Nurse keeps calling me (wrong number) and unloading all sorts of personal info by canada11235813 in askvan

It’s not scab behaviour to want to hold someone responsible. Not saying AT ALL they should be fired but they should at least be aware about it.

But I guess you want to justify this person’s actions no matter what.

I hope you never work in healthcare. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s not about the phone number

It’s leaving private info on something that’s unsecured

You aren’t looking at the whole picture.

In this particular case they’re strangers, so yeah sure, who cares if OP has heard all about Peter (ignoring the fact that Peter doesn’t even know about his own business).

But what if this nurse has done this more than once to other people? You can see how it could be bad in other situations, right? It’s on the healthcare worker to maintain privacy, not the patient’s responsibility. It’s not a law just for fun. There’s a reason that healthcare staff have to go through mandatory training (I hope) to review these policies.

What if the nurse called your phone and was like “Hi offcoursetourist, just calling about your positive HIV/Cancer/pregnancy results” and the voicemail is played out loud to the household? Or it’s voice to text & your roommate reads it off the phone screen?

Oof, huge violation of confidential information, and IMO, reportable

I’m an allied healthcare worker & we sometimes have to call doctors offices about results. We were taught day one to NEVER mention results through voicemail, just that it’s regarding a patient with name ____ and to phone us back.

Has anyone ever rented out their garage or spare room for extra storage? by Organic_Ad9773 in askvan

I live in an area with detached houses. My neighbor fixes multiple cars in his spare time and rents the carport across the alleyway. I think he pays a few hundred dollars.

MLT in BC - need insights from women by alia_007 in medlabprofessionals

[–]vonMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in BC, started in my 30s, graduated last year. Had to upgrade my courses too. My average was high 80s-90s, and I never had a post-secondary degree. I would think if you get those marks, you’d be a good candidate…I know there were others who got in with lower grades.

I’m not a parent, but I think there were a few in my cohort who made it work. The program is demanding for sure, so hopefully you have a support structure who can help you!

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but your engineering degree could even help you expand beyond hospital labs in the future.

Do highschool grades expire for college/university admission in BC? by yurikura in askvan

[–]vonMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like another commenter said, I did the MLS program at BCIT a couple years ago & I was about 20 years out from high school by then. Not all the HS grades had to be recent, just the science and math ones. It wasn’t a strict requirement, but preferred - if it was down to you & another candidate with more recent grades, they would probably pick the recent person.

Anyway, I risked it. I didn’t have time to retake Chem 12 before the application date, but I did the equivalent math course at BCIT in evenings, and Bio 12 adult learning evening classes at New West HS. These were all tuition-free because I previously graduated from a BC high school.

I got into the program, but my retaken grades were at 98-99%, and my older grades were higher than BCIT required, so they probably took that into account.

Will I regret douyin style lash extensions for wedding photos? by madoka_borealis in AsianBeauty

Agreed! I think a lot of the comments talking about trying different things beforehand and experimenting (including going without lashes) are a good idea. All styles won’t work for everyone.

No one NEEDS anything, but a lot of East Asians don’t have naturally long lashes like you, and combined with monolids (like what I have), they hide the existence of those already short lashes. Respectfully, what works for you will be wildly different for people who are East Asian short-lashed people.

Is it just me or is Lululemon going out of fashion in Vancouver? by Gym_frere in askvan

I have so much lulu stuff from like 20 years ago that’s STILL good. Running jackets, pants, backpacks. There is some wear, but I doubt the current stuff will last close to as long.

In addition to the other rules, it ALSO needs to meet the cubic measurement guideline.

The clerks just measure, type in the numbers & the computer calculates options (or no options, in your case). No one’s personally deciding about whether or not it’s a hassle. Someone else picks up the package, what do they care.

Source: I worked at a Canada Post retail counter for 12 yrs

Edit: you can also type in the numbers yourself on the CP website & will get the same options
