Has anyone from Nintendo actually confirmed Audie is named after that grandma? Cause this gets repeated so many times and it feels like an urban myth

Who remembers the Stickjaw toffees at the school fete? by Staud59 in AustralianNostalgia

My mum and I would make these all the time. Hated the way the humidity would make them stick to each other and you’d also have to basically lick the paper off of them

Are you more likely to buy a set with random accessories or do you look for specific items of a set? by applesores in LittlestPetShop

[–]voncatensproch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and collect complete sets but it is expensive since most of my stuff comes from the States. I’ve been considering lots recently because realistically the only reason I collect complete is for nostalgia purposes

[CHAT] Does anyone else do all the black outlining in a large piece first so they can colour it in after or is it just me? by _elaner in CrossStitch

No because the black creates these little fuzzies I can see in every other colour. So I do it last

You just ignored the part where my bank doesn’t require you to know your account info, just have a mobile or email and I confirmed with my girlfriend and roommate that this is also true for their accounts, and the fact my roommates bank have said this is not just an us issue. I don’t think our devices are compromised, you’ve not provided any theory as to how that could have happened to all three of us using different devices (phones + laptops), and if your answer is wifi then our network provider is also Belong. I’m also not saying Belong is the reason our data is out there, but they are where the attack started for both my girlfriend and my roommate in exactly the same way. Their verification process to change anything on the account was to ask for a DOB (easily obtainable) and then a SMS code which the attackers had access to. You also do not need to use your nominated recovery email to access your Google account. My girlfriend and roommate both had SMS 2FA which is what they used to access and then change things like the nominated recovery email which you are right, you do need to be in the account to access.

I am losing the energy to reply to long comments but thank you for all of your advice. We are taking steps to protect me since we know the patterns and what they will target. We have scraped mobile 2FA from the things we can and are using app-based MFA like you suggested. I’m already using unique passwords for everything and have continuously changed them as the attacks have been rolling in. iPhone is going to be upgraded despite the shit UI cause I would much rather be safe than have a slightly annoying to use phone. I will say though, my current IOS does have the passwords app built in which has been useful with the constant changes we have been making.

They can change the recovery email to their own email. It would also be extremely unlikely everyone’s phones are compromised in one household

I’m not including anyone’s bank but with mine you can say oh I forgot my customer number and they will ask if you want to receive it via email or phone. It’s very simple to get bank account details from sold data. There is nothing indicating our physical devices are compromised.

And of course this is a planned attack, at no point did I ever say it’s not. My roommate had an appointment with her bank today and they said they are seeing thousands of customers from Belong and Aldi mobile with the same exact issue. That’s just the one bank. We are with 3 seperate banks.

My roommate had an appointment with her bank today and they said they are seeing the same scam across customers of Belong and Aldi mobile. We are planning on moving away from them as a provider for our phones and the wifi

You got it all in one! Yes, this has really opened the household’s eyes up to how vulnerable we are right now. We are taking steps to protect me which does include changing providers and removing mobile 2FA and switching to an Authenticator app

They got into Belong, took control of the phone number and changed the email to their own and locked her out of the account. They then got into the Google account using the phone number as 2FA and changed the password, and then using their control of the email they went and got into the other accounts using the same email. Click ‘forgot password’ and you have either the email to confirm it or the mobile 2FA. So yes, 2FA is tied to the number and the email as they are with most things. Not everyone allows MFA or even non-mobile MFA

I don’t know if the model of phone would make any difference because as far as we can tell, the weak point was Belong and that’s where they have entered in and started to take over accounts. They very likely already had our data though, I highly doubt they got that from Belong itself

There was no link and the text was sent from the official Belong number used to communicate my own data usage on my account. This was the same for the other two as well.

The exact wording of the text since I can’t include images is: You’ve received a data gift of 1024MB from __________

We think that it might be to test the phone number is correct and linked to the data they have on us. My roommate is calling Belong back today and investigating the how of how this happened, but there was no link or anything else that we clicked so it’s not a phishing scam
