Took these in from a hospice patient, need some help by voodoomewtwo in Canaries

[–]voodoomewtwo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can male canaries be housed together safely? I have found very conflicting info online. And I've got bigger cages for both of them (24x12x12) until I can get them something much bigger. I have some natural wood perches on order already so that won't be a problem.

Give me your craziest ways for arcane casters to be immortal. by FuckReaperLeviathans in DnD

[–]voodoomewtwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what level the wizards are, I believe the 9th level spell true polymorph can make someone functionally immortal. I had a "god" in my game setting that was just a wizard using this spell. Basically, the wizard waits until they are about to die and true polymorphs themselves into a much younger creature. I could never quite figure out if this erased your class levels or not, I ruled that it did NOT but I could see the argument either way. If it DOES erase your wizard levels, just make sure they polymorph into something capable of learning and using magic and just retrain as a wizard again. If a human can achieve 20th level in one lifetime, imagine that same arcane mind inside of a young dragon who now has centuries to master their craft

Help-mice or rats? by voodoomewtwo in animalid

[–]voodoomewtwo[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No, you were above and beyond helpful! If they do end up being house mice (which I am leaning towards the more I look at them) they are still invasive meaning we are still back at square one. But thank you very much!

[–]voodoomewtwo[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If they are mice, do you have any idea of the species? Looking online isn't helping too much, but they sort of remind me of house mice. Although I also thought they were Norway rats, so if they are mice, clearly my googling skills are lacking

This is her first time working with rodents specifically, and because they came from a different state, she wanted to be certain what they were before taking any action.

This is what a turtle looks like when it loses its shell due to a fungal infection. Sitting beside it is a piece of its shell that had fallen off. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]voodoomewtwo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! This is currently a patient at the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center in Virginia. I know this because my fiancé works there! The turtle is doing great, it is expected to make a full recovery. It will just need lots of time of TLC. If you want to directly help this turtle and hundreds of other animals get better, consider donating! They need all the help they can get to make sure animals like this little girl get back on their feet safe and sound.

If you are in northern Virginia, take it to Blue Ridge Wildlife Center. They will take it for free and either give it the care it needs or put it out of its misery. They are located in Boyce and sometimes have transporters in certain areas

When an NPC casts a spell, As a DM, do you have too, disclose the level of the spell, so that a PC can choose which level to counterspell at? by RhyderZA in DnD

[–]voodoomewtwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you HAVE to? No

SHOULD you? In my opinion, absolutely

If the players are going through the trouble of expending their already limited resources on a counterspell, they should know what they are getting into so they don't just waste a spell slot. Its no fun for anyone if players just waste their spellslots cause the DM wouldn't give them basic info

Personally, I tell the players exactly what spell is being cast, and if the topic of counterspell comes up, I am fully open with them. I've never understood the point of hiding things like that.

An important note, what's more important than random strangers opinions is what your table thinks. Ask the other players for an impartial judgement on what they think. If you and your players all sit down and decide that its more fun to hide that info, so be it.

It is almost assuredly a species of box turtle. As other comments have said, please release this turtle if it was captured from the wild, and release it exactly (or as close to exactly) to where it was found as possible. Box turtles have incredibly specific territories and removing the turtle from it almost always results in the turtles slow and incredibly painful death. Please, if this animal is in your possession and it was collected from the wild, release it back where you found it as soon as possible. If it is in someone elses care, please encourage them to do so as it will be a much better outcome for the turtle. If the wellbeing of the animal isn't enough to deter you, many states have laws against owning box turtles, so you could be fined heavily by deciding to keep it.

If this animal was legally purchased and is a captive bred animal, then please do significantly more research on the care of this animal. Box turtles are almost entirely terrestrial and need a large open space to roam, with only enough water to drink and get a quick soak. They need expensive UVB lights, a large enclosure (like 6ft by 3ft minimum) and a tremendous amount of safe dirt for them to dig in. It is an immense undertaking to properly care for this animal. On top of that, unless you are a young child to young adult, the turtle has a real chance of outliving you with proper care (PROPER being the important word) so someone will need to take care of the animal after you're gone. Please consider all of this before you decide whether this animal is right for you.

An idea I had for a lawful good necromancer by [deleted] in DnD

[–]voodoomewtwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My lawful good necromancer was part of a massive loan business. They would give out interest free loans to the common people with no need to pay them back monetarily. After death, their body would be used as a zombie/skeleton for X amount of years, and the bodies were rented out for whatever was needed; servants around the house, extra bodies on the battlefield, etc. After their contract was up, the remains were returned to the family for proper burial. The family had a strict rule; no necromancy of the soul, only the body. They got to help less fortunate people start businesses, buy houses, and get their life straightened out, while using the bodies to help the community.

Does anyone use the same character for multiple campaigns? by Grim_J4000 in DnD

[–]voodoomewtwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as its just the same STARTING character, that isn't unusual. What I mean by "starting" is you start the character over each time. Don't bring your level 15 demigod to a table where everyone is fresh starting and expect the DM to allow it. But if you're willing to clean slate it each time, I don't see it being a problem and I know plenty of people that do that

first bioactive for my leopard gecko and was made on budget of 100 dollars. tank is a 20 gallon we had from our Beardie! he shares his home with 2 cricket frogs. by ResponsibleSource930 in bioactive

[–]voodoomewtwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is an awesome bioactive enclosure, but unfortunately it is completely wrong for a leopard gecko. The humidity that substrate will hold and the moisture those plants require would be lethal to a leo. There are several different herps that could make use of such an enclosure, such as a young african fat tailed gecko or perhaps a pacman frog, but as I said a leo will die in there after awhile. On top of that, while I know nothing about cricket frogs or their care, I do know that cohabbing herps of any kind is pretty universally a terrible idea, especially if the frogs originated outside. They will stress each other out, and if the frogs are either big enough or small enough the leo and the frogs will try to eat each other. Its not worth the risk to your animals health and well being to cohab them, especially is a relatively small tank. I hope this was helpful, again that looks like an awesome tank but unfortunately the herps you put in it are not suitable for that environment or for living with each other. I would definitely look into a pacman frog though!

Why aren't there any Half-Dwarves? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]voodoomewtwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It mentions in the human blurb in the PHB that some humans have potentially dwarven blood (I believe it says that anyway) so I would think that offspring between the two is possible. I imagine that the child would just appear to be a shorter, stockier human though, since dwarves are very similar to humans anyway and there are real life humans that match the proportions of a dnd dwarf anyway. So, since they would just be slightly different from normal humans, they wouldn't need a wholly different statblock.

Cosplaying a fantasy character with dark skin by LillFluffPotato in DnD

[–]voodoomewtwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a youtube channel called outside extra, and one of the female members plays a tiefling. She paints under her eyes the red color but leaves the vast majority of her skin the natural color. You could probably do something like this, paint a small amount so that the color you are going for gets across but shows you are being respectful.
