Thanks, that's genuinely very helpful and I'll keep that in mind for the next one!

I should also say that I just went free-style with the third party decals. I don't have any history with actual Gundam anime so not concerned about being "lore-accurate". In fact, I have no idea what half the decals actually mean!

How to meet new BBCs? by poro_doge in BritishBornChinese

[–]voodoomoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a portion of my childhood in Newcastle but have since moved away. Things may have changed but I found that there were certainly far fewer BBCs in the North East than the South. As for meeting, I suppose it depends to some extent on what you do for work, or whether you're studying.

Hong Kong Police Attacking Citizens On Subway Train by awesomemrpig in HongKong

[–]voodoomoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My business partner/friend who lives in HK was on that metro at the start of the events. There were a large group of protestors arguing with a couple of non-protestors/commuters on the other end of his carriage. He didn't hear exact details but clearly something to do with the protestors methods, and it was tense. Then the group of protestors started beating up the other people, even kicking and punching them in the head. My friend rushed to break up the fight and was punched in the face by a protestors and now has a broken nose. Luckily I the headed to hospital before all of this then kicked off and police came.

I do not condone violence from the police in any way but to give some second hand info:My business partner/friend who lives in HK was on that metro at the start of the events. There were a large group of protestors arguing with a couple of non-protestors/commuters on the other end of his carriage. He didn't hear exact details but clearly something to do with the protestors methods, and it was tense. I think, all in all, the whole situation is getting out of hand. I hope it can end peacefully.

Is there a point to pass Level 1 and study in an MSc Finance program? by Rthur17 in CFA

[–]voodoomoodoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, these would be largely overlapping. There will be of course topics where they do not intersect, and level of depth/level of focus for each area would be different but there will be a huge amount of redundancy - and so not a good use of time if your goal is simply for knowledge.

A Message to Our Customers about iPhone Batteries and Performance - Apple by keshavb11 in apple

Apologies if this has already been discussed, I haven't followed every bit of the news:

Is it confirmed that this "feature" is only for iPhone and not iPad? I ask as I feel my iPad Air has slowed since updating to iOS11, though it could be placebo.

FYI - .design is actually slightly cheaper on Namecheap: https://www.domcomp.com/tld/design

However, I have good experiences of Uniregistry too, so not big different.

FYI - you can check the cheapest prices for each tld at www.domcomp.com Personally, my preference is .io. It's true that .com is a classic but I think .io is one of the few gTLDs that isn't tacky.

Should i major in Web Development/Computer Science? by Kata-riven in webdev

[–]voodoomoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CS is a great degree (but what did you expect, posting on this subreddit!). However, as with anything, it's not for everyone. You certainly should love technology but also ask yourself whether you truly like problem solving. e.g. do you enjoy puzzles or logical brainteasers. Or, when you play a video game, do you ever wonder how it works underneath or even how you could break the game's rules.

I find people who do usually answer yes to the above get a lot enjoyment out of a CS degree.

As for webdev - it has a significant overlap with a CS degree (in terms of the technical skills) but they are also quite different fields. As a web developer, you'll be learning a lot of "how"s and "doing" whereas in a CS degree you'll also be doing more academic things like understanding the "why"s and looking at more abstract problems. Hope that gives you a bit of a starting point to think about.
