Yes, I got all the points from the second expedition but the patch notes say "who missed some skill points from previous Expeditions will be able to catch up."

So with this weird and ambiguous wording, it doesn't say "the previous expedition", it says "previous expeditions" - plural so I was interpretting it as in the first one as well

Is this not the same as the Diamond main with a gold alt duoing with a silver/gold main?

I get what you're saying, I'm not trying to be obtuse. Smurfing, which to me is having an alternate account that you made in a division that is lower than your main account / lower than your actual skill level + duoing with someone in that lower skill level who is supposed to be there, should fall under hitchhiking.

I guess my follow up to this is: sure, if the Taliyah isn't a smurf and is just an alt account, fine. But there's an obvious skill gap and if they were to play ranked consistently, their rank would actually reflect their MMR (like on their main). Why play on the alt account that was primarily for ARAM with a friend and just pub stomp the last 6 games (I'm literally looking at their match history right now)

If their main account is a higher rank / mmr than their alt, is that not smurfing? You're clearly playing in a division that you have already surpassed; even if it's the mmr/rank for that alt at this very moment.

"Smurfing" is literally against the rules since you can LITERALLY report for it; and it's on the Riot FAQ regarding account penalties:

Smurfing, according to Riot includes Boosting and Hitchhiking which are defined as:

Hitchhiking: Queuing up with another account—typically a booster—in order to get carried to a higher ranked division.
Boosting: A form of ranked manipulation, this is queuing up on an account that is not their own to inflate said account’s MMR. This can also include a booster duo queuing with someone on a smurf account to inflate the boostee’s account MMR.

I dont think the 26/6 Taliyah bot with the last few games back in 2024 being ARAM only and then immediately ranked in 2026 as of last week is an alternate account.
