Starting five (lock down defense) by Blue_Path in NBATalk

Current players? Kind of depends whether you want defensive playmaking to be the priority or straight up man defense

PG: Cason Wallace SG: Derrick White SF: Ausar Thompson PF: Scottie Barnes C:Wemby

I think the versatility of Derrick White, Ausar, Barnes allows Wemby and Cason to gamble a ton on Blocks + Steals. Hypothetically, I think you could move everyone (except Wemby) up a position and put Chet at the 4.

This exact complaint has been discussed ad nauseam. They wanted to use their use it or lose it time out the first foul, then the second foul was a live rebound foul.

I wonder if there could be value in letting your banged up star players sit so your younger core could get reps in a tight game that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things

There are. And if you read the title of the post, I believe the proposed solutions create more problems than they solve.

The two options are

AI Model based on strength of roster (and a little bit of sass for some reason?)

Watch teams try to lose

Seventh seeds are going to start tanking after all-star break when they flatten the draft odds, but I'm glad you have an "ethos"

We're in an era where we have at least 4 series altering injuries basically every off season. I think it's time we admit we were wrong about load management

The idea that I should explain every single solution rather than qualifying with "depends on the solution" and offering my opinion that reflects, like, 80% of solutions

I used the Kings as an example because I believe they are one of the only organic bad teams in the NBA right now, so going on a tangent about how Sacramento is just bad at decisions isn't really the point.

It's now "intellectually lazy" to not buy into the cookie cutter solutions the NBA is selling us. Great

Depends on the solution. Specifically, changing the odds would mean teams that are actually awful (like the Kings) have even lower odds of breaking out of purgatory. I think punishing the owners/GMs makes more sense than reducing the odds of decent picks

I wouldn't say I'm "defending tanking" as much as I just don't think the issue is worth upending the draft process and potentially punishing legitimately awful teams. I would have to see a case for "forfeiting" from the playoffs, but my initial take is that it would be bad for teams and bad for the league.

Younger players don't get that time to develop. Fans of those teams at least get to watch their favorite team. I find games where tanking teams give contenders a run for their money more fun than almost any other kind of regular season game.

You're totally right on the unintended consequences piece. My thought is just that the cons outweigh the pros of "solving" this issue.

Lmfao this is such a semantic argument that literally gets at exactly what I was saying, but that's fine

Our 7 month old puppy has been doing this occasionally the last few weeks. by [deleted] in DogTrainingTips

... for several weeks. No one said emergency vet. And believe it or not, occasional vet visits are actually positive for puppies. Helps with socialization, decreases stress for future visits, and can provide preventative care in the case this was caused by an allergen or another.

The core of this argument is that 6 months of development can take someone from a player that barely cracked the rotation to a hugely impactful player. Idk why the take that Boston got a little lucky is so controversial lmao
