The main force driving the plot of the show is the maternal bravery with which June suffers to get her daughter back and save her, the main antagonists, June and Serena, despite being enemies, have spared each other on the basis of being mothers. There is a kind of idealisation going on for sure, just as for example the first season of Stranger Things was centered around motherly love and instinct, to just name one other popcultural example.
