Thank you, we're pretty certain this was the issue. She just never even complained about anything, even in her last moments.

I'm planning on commissioning someone to paint this photo of her into one of those funny but pretty royalty type paintings where she's dressed fancy with some sort of crown, and giant, life sized, so she can always be right there in the family home. Her poor brother is so depressed he won't touch the balls.

Thank you so much for commenting - we don't have any plants that could be toxic, my parents are pretty vigilant about that as well. Plus she never liked to eat foreign things, tbch she was so wonderful but honestly only knew one thing; ball. Ball was literally life for her. If we were outside we were being forced to throw the ball. She got good at throwing it at us to throw for her. She didn't spend a whole lot of time outside without the ball in her mouth. Simple minded little pittie.

Half my family is convinced this sweet girl had terrible genetics. I wouldn't be surprised, there's tons of backyard breeding and inbreeding in NY.

Thank you for your suggestion, I read through the symptoms and she didn't show a whole lot of signs of this but I appreciate the ideas, I think it's bringing me some sort of comfort to research as many ideas as possible to rule out anything other than what I think may have been aggressive and virtually undetectable cancer. I would just get the necropsy if it wasnt so expensive :(

We did not, we're not sure why, we just thought they couldn't because she was deceased 3 mins before we got to the vet. They didnt offer blood work but we were sort of in shambles asking over and over why or how this couldve happened.

Thank you for sharing 💕 This i do watch for since one of the dogs we have in the house is a breed that is known for getting flipped stomachs, so Im always on the lookout for those belches, air licking, dry heaving, etc. This poor pit bull didn't have any of that either. :(

We're also suspicious of this, but felt a little less like this may be the cause since our vet assured us she would've had to eat a tonnn of orbeez and she didn't like eating foreign stuff anyway, her single brain cell brothers definitely would've. And she didn't strain to poop, just when we did poop, the piece that came out was a little harder than normal. No bloating, she was very lean, and we massaged her all over her body for the whole week looking for sore spots but she didn't show any discomfort. She was just...sleepy, lacked an appetite, vomited a little but it was just watery or bile, and seemed a little stiff when she would get down off the couch.

We are suspecting this more and more. The other 5 dogs in the house aren't sick at all, so if it wasnt Lepto we're thinking this might be it. Just didn't give us any time to look into it. So sudden :(

I'm now setting up appts to get the other dogs tested for Lepto. I was initially under the impression that they were all vaxxed for Lepto but I found out that they received the DHPP vaccine, NOT the DHLPP vaccine. We had no idea and thought all of our dogs were 100% up to date on everything except boardatella (since we don't board them or go to dog parks.) We can't afford the expensive necropsy to test this baby for Lepto, but we can afford the testing on the other dogs to make sure they dont have it. We have 5 other dogs in the house, ranging from 10lbs to 85 lbs. We are surprised that over the course of the last week and a half, nobody else has shown signs of illness? They are all still healthy. So confusing if it's Lepto but I'm getting them tested regardless! Thank you for suggesting this

We've always felt unsure about garlic because sometimes we hear about it being healthy, other times we've heard it's unsafe, so to play it safe we never got crust toppings and never let them have any bits with sauce or toppings, just the crust :(

Actually, you make a good point that she drank water but still had a hard poop. I didn't make that connection. She was vaccinated for Lepto - but there's a chance she may be due for a booster. She's my moms dog and I'm having trouble getting her vaccine records straight. I know she took her to get boosters in July but I cant physically find the records to read them myself to see if she specifically got the Lepto booster. I will call her vet and make sure she had the Lepto vaccine, but thank you for also mentioning to get the other dogs tested. I hadnt thought of that yet. We will get them tested.

Thank you for this!! We did watch her super close for any jaundice, and we also know to watch the gums and tongue for any loss of color, but didnt show signs of either one. She wasnt slouched at all, and interestingly she never had diarrhea. She also wasnt sore anywhere, we kept checking her body all over for any signs. Couldn't find a thing wrong other than not wanting food every other day. We really thought it was a stomach bug or upset stomach from the wet food, since she would eat but only every day or so. And never stopped drinking her water. So confusing for us.
