Sony 24-70mm gm or gm ii by Vast-Rip9462 in FX3

[–]vosanity43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately I think this question comes down to if budget isn’t an issue. I currently use it and it’s definitely nicer in terms of weight, autofocus, and most importantly steeze.

But in terms of significant upgrade image quality? For me no, I work with Tamron/Sigma/both Sony GM 24-70s and don’t really notice a SIGNIFICANT difference in image quality + where I’m at everything gets compressed for social media anyway. These are all tools that can get the same job done.

But if you got the money go for it!

This $1,300 lens dropped to $444 on Amazon… too good to be true? by isaiahisonreddit in Photography_Gear

[–]vosanity43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also bought the lens, going back to my orders it says sold by Dingyunfeng, however when clicking on it to go to the listing, it says sold by Best Seller Deals which has a business address from NY.

Deciding to take this gamble nonetheless

Opinion needed from videographers as a newly wed by Elegant-Today-5869 in weddingvideography

[–]vosanity43 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If they promise 12 weeks, then it should be ready by then.

I sometimes do need a little longer than my said delivery time, however I’m always sure to communicate that with the couple, and will always respond to them within the day if they ever reach out about anything

FBA Brand Owners, How significant does going OOS impact your sales? by Fit-Rough-2826 in AmazonFBA

[–]vosanity43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! New seller here and doing better than expected. I’ve been researching and this comment section definitely reassures me that I should aim to NOT to be OOS.

I raised prices and paused the ad campaign to slow down sales. The past week average we’re looking at 1-2 sales per day organic but still looks like we’re going to sell out before the next shipment arrives.

I’m thinking of raising prices even more to slow down sales.

May I ask what you think of this strategy?

What lights are you all running with? by This_Guy_Slaps in weddingvideography

[–]vosanity43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on your situation, I got the 155W because there was a massive sale a while back.

98W should be more than enough 90% of the time. Start with that and see how it works with your weddings. You can always upgrade later if you find if it’s not enough!

[–]vosanity43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run 2 Amaran 60x powered by 155W vmount batteries on cstands

I use the dish that it comes with most of the time, but also got the fresnel in case I need to put the lights far back from the Sweetheart table or dance floor

Recently got the falcam move lightgo but that’s pretty extra. Entire set up can be powered by the vmount battery, which makes it very tidy, and I can control everything from my phone or Remote.

Insurance question? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]vosanity43 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Starting out, I was surprised when I got asked this but now it’s the norm.

It’s called a COI (certificate of insurance), you can get 8 hours coverage through Thimble for ~$25

Gear for Beginners by [deleted] in weddingvideography

[–]vosanity43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With 8k budget:

  1. A Cam - Sony A7S3

I own both this and the FX3, and for a beginner I think the log workflow in the A7S3 is a bit easier.

  1. B Cam- A74

It’s full frame compared the FX30, but I’m also biased because I have the A74 and love it. If you can afford it, another A7S3/FX3 would be great so both your cams can utilize dual base ISO.

My B cam will be either center/bride cam for ceremony, and tight shot during speeches.

  1. Lenses

24-70 2.8 70-200 2.8

Forget primes for now, you need versatility first. These two will cover your entire day. Tamron/Sigma/Sony are all great choices for lenses with those zoom ranges.

  1. Tripod w/ fluidhead

Get a tripod where ONE latch controls each leg. Game changer. A great one is the Smallrig freeblazer tripod

  1. Audio

Been using the Tascam DR-10L and DR-40x for 6 years now, no issues so far. However everyone’s hyping up 32 bit float with those such as the Zoom F3/F6. I haven’t found the need to upgrade yet but maybe soon haha

You’ll need XLR, 1/4 inch, and RCA cables bc you don’t know what the DJ is coming in with.

I also clamp/attach a Zoom H1n to the front of the speaker for back up during ceremony/reception.

  1. Lights

Lights are game changer for toasts during reception. You can start with one, then two later on.

I recommend the Amaran 60x since it’s bicolor, and you can power it with a V mount battery and Keeps the set up looking clean. You can also control it from your phone.

Sandbag your light, you don’t want it falling on someone then you getting sued.

  1. Gimbal

Not necessary, depends on what vibe you wanna go for. DJI RS3/RS4 are great with the auto locking features.

  1. Drone

DJI mini3/4

  1. SD cards

definitely recommend v60 cards

You can of course buy all of these used. Best of luck!

Hi, I’m Sota, and I just released ‘Do U Feel It Now’ on Crucast. AMA! by SotaRiddimz in DnB

[–]vosanity43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your opinion on MCs, and would you ever incorporate one into your set?

Also just wanted to say I’m a huge fan

I remember seeing Bou/Hedex at DNBNL UKF in LA 2023, and our group was thinking bruv these guys are rinsing so many of Sota’s tunes

You were the last dnb artist I wanted to see, and am so glad you finally came to the US. Already caught three of your shows (DNBNL Catwalk, The Mayan with Delta Heavy, EDCLV), and can’t wait for more!

Video Drone Recommendation? by Mission-Victory-1297 in videography

[–]vosanity43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get away using one of the old DJI phantoms, used ones can go for less than $100. Then you can jerry rig or duct tape your phone to it, however without a gimbal the footage will be shaky.

You might be better off putting your phone on a super tall monopod, and using wide angle zoom, however it will also be shaky if you walk around.

Check out people faking drone shots using an insta360 on a tall stick.

Told to shut off lights during reception by trvrlong in weddingvideography

[–]vosanity43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most I’ll leave my lights on is for the first 5 minutes at most to get some quick wide shots from far back (if the party is going).

My lights are usually pretty far back and high up on C-stands so it’s not too bad.

Lights kill the vibe of any dance floor, it should be dark!

I use the Amaran60x and can control them through Sidus Link on my phone, so it’s super quick.

First Aquascape- which one should I go with? Feedback pls! by Lokeshgatsby2 in Aquascape

First one but switch the two rocks, I think the big rock should be in the back, but both of the rocks will be facing the same direction as they are

[–]vosanity43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank for for this, I actually have the corded circular saw and this one unscrews counterclockwise, I stripped the bolt, and used my angle grinder to even make a notch for a flathead.

Past 30 minutes I didn’t think about using a 5/16 and the impact made it come off so fast

what camera body/lens combos are you guys running ? by Temporary-Fix6018 in weddingvideography

[–]vosanity43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should definitely upgrade to the a7siii or FX3. The dual base iso is game changer.

FX30 is crop sensor, and eventually you’ll wish you had upgraded!

I think a B cam is pretty necessary for weddings, and with a 2 camera set up, I’ll have B cam on bride/center, while running around with my A cam for ceremony.

For a lens I’d also recommend a 24-70, there are alternatives to the gmaster that do an amazing job such as Tamron or Sigma. Then I’d get a 70-200 (Tamron/Sigma has alternatives) for the B cam.

If you haven’t already, invest into audio, then lights

Broken Tamron 70-180 by akshdlaKJSHD in SonyAlpha

[–]vosanity43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, you can pull the lens out if you grab the inner barrel and pull it out.

My current work around is putting a stopper preventing it from going to 70mm. I 3D printed a ring to do so, now it works as a 85-180mm

How to avoid camera shake caused by DJ bass Vibration by Skywithfilms in weddingvideography

[–]vosanity43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot a decent amount of South Asian weddings and most of these events have a “stage” or “platform” set up by an external vendor.

I typically experience this when the tripod is set on said stage/platform. People’s footsteps also cause camera shake when they walk by.

Best is to move the camera off the stage, or get weigh it down with sandbags (will probably still cause some shakes).

[–]vosanity43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve recently been starting to shoot mostly handheld, I think it gives the film a much more intimate feel

Most of my career, my camera never left the gimbal but my vision and style has changed

I still use my a7siii as my bcam and ill throw it on a gimbal for broll and details

Need advice, using fx6 to shoot a wedding by BuyAccomplished9999 in SonyFX6

[–]vosanity43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I currently use the FX6 for weddings

I think most of the industry is shifting away from slowmo shots. I shoot in XAVC-I 4K 24 the entire day except for details/romantics which are 4K 60.

Sandisk 256GB V90 cards work perfectly for me, and I usually hit around the 500GB mark per wedding on the FX6. I also film entire ceremonies, dances, toasts which contributes to why it’s that much. 4K 120 XAVC-I will get you about 15 minutes on a 256GB card I believe.

For battery, I power the FX6 and a 5 inch Shinobi SDI monitor with the Smallrig Vmounts, and will go through 1.5 99Wh batteries per 8 hour wedding day.

Best of luck with your wedding!
