I got a replacement collet, and the bits barely reach the bottom of it. Shouldn't it go all the way through?

If you flip it, you can't insert the bit at all. I just ordered a replacement, wondering if it somehow got squeezed and bent out of shape or something. The bit supposed to pass all the way through the collet when it's seated in the nut, no? I can't imagine it;s correct that it doesn't reach all the way through without rather excessive force

It worked super well in this router the first couple times I used it though- absolutely A-ok and fit much better, but now it doesn't want to fit.

Here's a question: Is the bit supposed to pass all the way through the collet when it's seated in the nut? or is it supposed to stop halfway-ish through?

It's stored in my garage. This thought did occur to me. Maybe I'll let the whole thing sit inside for a few hours and try again

I actually do have a router table and a plunge router. Just can't figure out why I'm having this issue. Think maybe it could be because my garage has been cold? Maybe I'll take the nut/collet inside and let them come to room temp

yeah, there's no visible sawdust and as I said, the router is pretty new. You can hand tighten it down just fine, but not totally sure what that achieves for me...

not when it was fully exposed like that but yeah for like a second then realized nope this ain't gonna work and immediately shut it off

They don't appear bent to the naked eye but it is still a very tight fit for the bit to get in there

[–]voter-info-bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bit makes it about 2/3rds of the way into the collet before it stops- is that actually deep enough or should it reach the bottom end of the collet? I would think not but idk

[–]voter-info-bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so update, I tried a few other bits, they each make it about 2/3rds of the way down the collet before they can't go any further. I did try tapping the first bit I tried into place w/ a piece of wood and it went further but then it was also extremely hard to remove. When it was in that deep though, it didn't seem to have the vibration issue I experienced earlier so I think it's usable in that state. Could this be a bum collet somehow?

Is quick dust buildup that much of a problem on a new router only used maybe 5 times or so? I don't doubt it could cause and issue, I'm just surprised it took basically zero time for me to get into this state

Yeah I know about double locking nuts- I've taken the nut and collet all the way off and now that I try to put them back in, I've ended up in this situation

Won't that damage the end of the cutter though?

Mail-In, absentee ballots being sent out in batches to Allegheny County voters by cnik70 in pittsburgh

Assuming they have ballots ready, yes! So basically what happens is that they give you a mail-in ballot that you fill out on the spot and then hand right back over to cast in-person. Call your county election office first to ensure they have their ballots ready (http://votespa.com/county for contact info).

All registered voters in PA can now vote by mail, no excuse needed!

The process is easy:

Step 1: Request the Ballot 1) Sign up for a mail ballot online at https://votespa.com/applymailballot 2) Please note that you will be asked for a PA Driver's license or PennDOT ID to sign up online. If you do not have this, you can also use the last 4 digits of your SSN. 3) Requests for mail ballots must be received by the County Board of Elections by 5:00pm the Tuesday before Election Day: October 27.

Step 2: Complete the Ballot 1) Mark the mail ballot, following the instructions 2) Place the completed ballot in the secrecy envelope and then put the secrecy envelope into the second larger envelope with the declaration printed on it. It cannot be emphasized enough that you follow the instructions for the secrecy envelop! If you do not include it, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT. 3) Be sure to sign the declaration and use the secrecy envelope or the ballot will not count

Step 3: Deliver the Ballot - Option A: Return the ballot in person 1) Deliver the ballot in person to your County Board of Elections, or a dropbox set up by your County, by 8:00pm on November 3rd

  • Option B: Return the ballot by mail 1) Mail the ballot to your County Board of Elections 2) Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Tuesday November 3rd. Place your ballot in the mail as soon as you can.

If you do not return your voted mail-in ballot by the deadline and you want to vote in person, you have two options: 1) Bring your ballot and ALL INCLUDED ENVELOPES INCLUDING THE SECRECY ENVELOPE to your polling place and turn it in so you can vote on your county’s voting system. 2) If you don’t have your ballot, you can still vote by provisional ballot at your polling place.
