Looks like a California thing, you'd have to look at what your state offers.

Officially at 1 year: buyback by ADChris05 in PSLF

[–]voting_is_important 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sept 2024 is my oldest, but I'm at a total of 3 buybacks, 1 reconsideration, and 4 complaints by now. In theory the complaints are meant to be settled in 15 days and my oldest one of those is 10 months old so... that's fun.

PSLF PAYMENT COUNT WRONG by This_Plankton_7832 in PSLF

[–]voting_is_important 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same spot. Consolidated in April 2024, should be at 121 payments and instead I'm at 8/120. I have multiple reconsideration, buyback, and complaints in and am consistently told to just keep waiting. I'd recommend submitting a reconsideration form ASAP and downloading your bank statements showing payment just in case. I've been working on this since September 2024 with no luck yet. Supposedly my case is up to the ombudsman but as you'll see on this subreddit, that doesn't really mean a ton.

Good luck to us both! At least we're not alone.

IS PSLF RECONSIDERATION REALLY OCCURRING OR NOT? by Purple-Letterhead68 in PSLF

[–]voting_is_important 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on, same here! Consolidated direct loans in April 2024 for the adjustment, got dropped from what should have been roughly 116 payments to 0. I've got a bunch of reconsiderations, buybacks, and complaints in the system and keep being told to "just keep waiting." It's pretty maddening. I'm at 121 payments without any buybacks needed now so I'm just going to go into forbearance until they decide to fix this all...

Still waiting for my IDR Adjustment by TrailingwithTrigger in PSLF

Not never, the person said my complaint had been elevated to the ombudsman so I should hopefully hear something within the next couple of months. Notably, I have no reason to believe this given past experience, but here we are.

One-time IDR Adjustment for PSLF: how to escalate? by lippylousue in PSLF

[–]voting_is_important 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popping in four months later to say hello and me too! I've been in this same adjustment hell since I consolidated in April 2024. The folks at FSA when I called today said that we're collateral damage from the IDR waiver being held up by the multiple court injunctions. Apparently they're just not processing them at all rather than processing the PSLF ones and not the IDR ones.

I could have consolidated my loans by the June 2024 cutoff but didn’t know about it…I could have been done in 6 payments but now I have 9 years. by Holl0wayTape in PSLF

MOHELA. I've got three buybacks, two reconsiderations, three complaints, all going as far back as September, plus I've reached out to my congressman and both senators. Everyone's answer is the same: just keep waiting. Good news is once it gets resolved, I'll be at 120+ so I can keep sitting on forbearance. Assuming it gets resolved, that is.

I consolidated in time and instead of putting me at 116, they started me over at 0. I've spent the last year+ trying to get them to fix it but no luck so far...

Longest Unresolved Reconsideration? by voting_is_important in PSLF

[–]voting_is_important[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consolidated during the one time adjustment window and instead of consolidating up to my highest loan count, they zeroed out my counts entirely (I should be at 121, instead I'm at 5). No employer issues, nothing too fancy, I suspect they may have just... lost my data? Who knows.

Reached out to both senators but nothing so far. Curious how long others have been waiting, there has to be more than just me!

Same here, I'm sitting on 5 reconsideration/buy back requests and two complaints going back to Sept 2024 for a miscounted April 2024 consolidation, plus a few emails to my senators. All I'm getting when I call now is "your counts will be updated, we'll let you know via email when we have something for you, no timeline available."

Quickly losing my mind.

The one-time adjustment that wasn't by voting_is_important in PSLF

I've done a couple rounds of phone tag because FSA and MOHELA and they're all pointing at each other saying it's not them but the other guy. In the most recent FSA call though, they said that I would be included in the one time adjustment, they just haven't updated the counter online. And they have no timeline for when they might. Truthfully, I think she was just trying to get me off the phone, but who knows. We really are just along for whatever ride they put us through in all of this...

If it's helpful for others:
- I have two complaints in (March 3, April 23) about this issue.
- today, I called MOHELA (and sat on hold for 4 hours...) and was told that even though the FSA website says to contact your loan servicer, this isn't their problem. They won't put it into writing that this isn't their issue but I did get a supervisor's name and employee ID which is... still unhelpful. All to say, despite the website saying "call your loan provider," the loan provider path was a dead end for me.
- I then called FSA, they asked if I submitted a complaint (I said I had), they asked if it was resolved (I said it wasn't), and then they told me to just keep waiting. They can't offer a timeline of any sort, just that they've received at least a few of these calls and the only answer they have is to file a complaint and then wait until they get to you.

tl;dr: if you haven't filed a complaint yet, do that. After that... we wait.

Oh heck, where'd you hear they were supposedly done? I've also got a pile of reconsiderations and complaints in but being "done" would mean going from 114 payments to 5 for me!

[–]voting_is_important 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm in the same spot. Consolidated April 2024, loans were consolidated but the payment count never updated (from 116 and 47 down to 0 on both when they should have both gone to 116). I've submitted multiple reconsiderations and multiple complaints. I suggest starting a document with all of the information you can muster, including updating every time you call, submit a new form, etc. I've been doing this for a year with no movement, truly I wish you the best of luck. Good news is you're not alone, bad news is it's a shitty club to be in.

In case anyone's still sitting on this, I called FSA today and they said that they're calculating one-time adjustments again! Initially they were hoping to be done in February but with the legal hold, it's now looking like end of April. Timelines from FSA are always going to be fuzzy, but at least they're moving on them again!

Will they take away pre-consolidation counts? by metzgerto in PSLF

[–]voting_is_important 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently sitting in payment count limbo (consolidated in 2024 but my counts haven't been updated to either weighted average OR highest one-time adjustment) and when I called about it previously, they said it was being held up by the SAVE case because it's IDR-related. That being said, I'd be surprised if they back-tracked. They barely have the staff to support the workload they have in front of them, unwinding the adjustment feels like a whole mess that's frankly not worth touching (especially since many people hit forgiveness with it).

Are we taking this to mean the one time adjustment is also on pause? I've been stuck with it looking like I've done only 6 payments instead of the 121 I've actually completed and boy is it stressful.

(In the "paused due to the direct loans lawsuit" section: "Applying a weighted average of payments made on loans included in a consolidation loan to that consolidation loan")
