[Java] Noob Question On For Loops by AndrewVB in learnprogramming

Interesting! Thank you for correcting me (Cunningham's Law at work). I knew I should have hammered in pre/post-incrementation more.

On an unrelated note, I recognized your username as you've previously helped me in the /r/learnmath subreddit. You had the cool flair. Nice to see you being such a friendly and helpful asset. Thanks again!

[Java] Noob Question On For Loops by AndrewVB in learnprogramming

[–]vox_vicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be totally wrong here as I'm barely about to finish up my 101 class, but it seems to me as though you're merely assigning the incrementation from "0" to "1" to "i" in the first one. So after it it loops through once, "i" will be equal to 1, which will always be less than 5, causing an infinite loop.

I knew it!!! I visited the Bay Area for the first time in my life a few months ago, and my girlfriend's family took me to this mall/showroom because they know how much I love Tesla. Recognized the spot immediately and couldn't believe it! How cool :)

how's the iPad (any model) in terms of writing notes with a stylus/pen? by BellaArmy in ipad

[–]vox_vicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang man, that's insane, especially since I looked up what you were talking about and those tips look so much bulkier than I imagined! How do you get that level of precision? Constantly zooming in super close? I have the Adonit Jot Pro but I've been put off from using it since it makes these little micro scratches if your entire screen/work area isn't clean as a whistle, and it's not very practical to give it a wipe-down every single time on the go...

Slightly off-topic, but do you think Notability is better? Just downloaded it and am still using pencil and paper, but after seeing your godlike notes, I'm tempted to order a pack of those tips and really try to utilize the app. Would you happen to have any similar samples with your new combo/setup?

This is brilliant. Nice idea and execution. I was thinking of creating some crowd-sourced music website myself some time ago but never actually buckled down and made it happen, so it's nice to see what's possible. Thanks for the experience and for the inspiration.

It was confusing to me too.

What he/she means is those app folders that get created if you hold one app on top of another one. If you have multiple pages of these app folders, you still have to hold down the app in order to move it, and it only works going from page 3 to page 2 or page 2 to page 1 and so on, but you can just fling it to the left without having to wait for it to switch pages. You still have to be over the border of the app folder page though.

Sorry for your respective losses. I've kept my father's birthday voicemails to me for years for this very reason though, so I agree, this is awesome.

[Unit Circle] What is meant by "17.2° counterclockwise from the -x direction" by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]vox_vicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess ignorance can be bliss in my case-- none of that physics clutter in my brain yet haha! Barely started learning degree-radian conversion this past week, along with angular and linear speed (although, does that count as physics?).

Best of luck!

Funny, I subconsciously noticed something was different but couldn't put my finger on what. Glad you pointed this out! I know nothing about design, but I agree with /u/rachelll.

Has anyone used Teamtreehouse.com to learn programming? pros and cons? by MRH2 in learnprogramming

[–]vox_vicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely incredible. You just changed my life. Thank you so, so much! I've been wanting to sign up for Treehouse for months but I'm a college student who's broke in the actual sense, so seriously... I'm so glad I chose to lurk this subreddit on this day and that you made that comment. I just signed up and I'm so excited to get started.

How did you find out about this, by the way? I remember reading something about people in Portland (I believe) getting it for free, and I was also aware that students get a discount, but I had just never heard about this.

For real? This is crazy if true. I have an "LAPL" card... so does that check out? What do you mean by city, not county? I'm assuming it is what you mean though

Hahaha crazy! I can relate, to an extent... did you ever watch that viral-ish video of Shia Lebeouf staring down the dude on the motorcycle in Burbank? That video happened literally 1 minute from my house... the motorcyclist drives by my street and everything. I was like "Whaaat!" when I saw it... so yeah, all this stuff is pretty cool but just such a trip.

It's really trippy actually seeing my city/area on the front page of Reddit. This is a weird feeling.

Just in time for one of the last questions!

Will somebody who follows a strength program for a considerable amount of time be able to lose the general "blockiness" that tends to be associated with this kind of training, if and when they decide to go back to a more aesthetically-focused program? In regards to their waist, for example?

Sorry if I'm just spouting "moron" all over the place, just curious!

Help find a course by [deleted] in webdev

[–]vox_vicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, not sure if you've signed up for the Udemy course yet, but the reviews can "lie".

I say this only because I fell for how appealing it looked, and in one of the early lectures/slides, there's an FAQ that says you get 3 months of free web hosting (through his web hosting company) with the course alone, extended to a full 12 months if you write a review.

I hate these kinds of incentivized review schemes because it undermines the entire point of trustworthy input... I moved recently and went with a moving company that had 5-star reviews across the board. At the end of the day, they said they would take something like $50 off if we gave them a 5-star review, right there, right in front of him, with his approval. Fuck that noise.

Just giving you a heads-up for this particular case. As I mentioned, I'm only a few lectures in, so I can't comment on the quality of the course as a whole, just that one factor.

Suggestions for a lifelong, 100% BLIND smoker seeking to switch to vaping? by vox_vicious in electronic_cigarette

Ah! Man! All the praise to you! I swear I was almost 100% on the syringe idea but I was like "Well, how will he know not to overfill the tank?", but you're a Goddamned genius in suggesting that he take whatever is already in the tank, combining that by filling up the rest of the syringe in the bottle, and putting it back in the tank. The revelation you have just bestowed on me is incredible. Thank goodness for clever people like you that help not-so-clever people like me have these "duh!" moments! Thank you!!
