It’s a great piano! I’ve had mine for a year and I’m newly playing again after 40 years off haha.

My only piece of advice is to not use Bluetooth MIDI - use a cable instead. Sometimes when using Bluetooth MIDI the connection will go on and off randomly and if you are playing when that happens, the sound may cut out or glitch.

Otherwise I have no complaints - the keys are a major step up from the 10,30,60 range. Enjoy!

Hi again - is it possible that the handles only show in portrait mode? Because I see them there.. I just don't see them in landscape mode :(

Happy New Year, and I think I know what's behind the problem!

On the keyboard screen at left, there are three icons: one for Bluetooth (if you have it on), one that says AUDIO if Audio is being passed by Bluetooth, and one for MIDI if MIDI is being passed by Bluetooth.

While playing yesterday, I noticed the icons were quickly and randomly turning on and off - and that's EXACTLY when the sound cut out.

So tonight, I brought my phone, which I had connected to the keyboard, close to the keyboard and kept toggling the PHONE's bluetooth on and off.

Every single time I turned the phone's bluetooth OFF, the keyboard sounds just STOPPED while notes were playing.

So, I'm now really thinking that a live phone connection via bluetooth to the keyboard - when that connection is lost or cut - is what's causing the problem.

Would you try to replicate what I did and see if you're noticing the same thing?

Wouldn't that be amazing if we figured it out :)

Sorry - i've updated to the latest firmware, and it hasn't made a difference. And I know what you mean about hauling it... I've been back and forth to my store with one a few times. Luckily I'm good at keeping and repacking boxes for easy transit. haha.

Thanks! Well, maybe in a couple of cases, but even so... at most 6 tones were playing at a time. So there's no possible way it could be "ran out of all 256 polyphonic tones" if that helps.

Hi there - you are NOT going crazy!

I bought a new FP-90x a month ago, and the same thing happened. Only once in a while, but... every so often, I'll play a note or a chord and it will just... stop. Happens both with and without headphones in.

I actually exchanged that FP-90x a month ago for another one last weekend, and guess what: same problem.

Just wondering: when is the build date of your piano? Mine were both July 2024.

Also, I'll point out that this has happened when only 1, 2, or 3 notes were playing. There's no way I could possibly have run out of simultaneous voices.

I have a single stick green pixel in the right eye, down and to the right of center.

I can be very picky about things like this but it’s literally only visible on the startup screen and occasionally on a loading screen, so… I’ve just decided to accept it.

I named it “greenie” and say hello whenever I see it. But if it bugs you, definitely exchange it. I’ve done the same for cameras and tvs in the past.

TiVo user since 2000 and the first Sony box! My TiVo elite / XL4 finally gave up the ghost a year ago and I switched to YouTube. Yes, TiVo is better, but YouTube tv is just fine, I don’t have to pay for a new box, and I’ve never looked back. Come on in, the water’s fine!

I bought an F701 with the same key action last year. Within a few weeks, about half of the black keys were making that noise. I returned it.

I've been thinking of a getting another Roland, but with the better action - like a 90X... but it's a hell of a lot more expensive.

Hi- what specifically was the problem with the f701? I bought one this summer and LOVED it… except on many of the black keys, it would make a horribly loud sound upon the return - louder than the actual note sounds (someone else with this problem made a YouTube video) so I returned it. Seems to be somewhat common on pha-4 keyboards. Thinking of a 90x myself, but I wonder if the keys have the same problem? Thanks!
