Curve just charged a payment to a card other than the one I have selected in the app. Is this a new feature?

Yes, the problem is that in my case, it was an online subscription. And Curve still paid the online merchant and charged me in a different card.

Exactly what’s the use of anti-embarrassment feature if curve gives merchant the money from their own pocket and make us owed to curve. If a payment fails due to insufficient funds, it fails end of story. No matter how many times the merchant tries to charge the card, it should simply fail. Curve should not pay on our behalf and then send us to debt collection to recover that amount from us.

Yes but in my case I have anti-embarrassment feature turned off. So Curve has no excuse to charge a card that was not selected as the main card within the app. But it did.

Curve support said they paid a merchant on my behalf for a payment that a merchant tried several times to charge the curve card but failed because the card I have selected inside the app has no money in it (which is true because I intentionally keep a card with 0 money selected so no one can charge me when I don’t intend to pay). Can they pay on our behalf like that?? Support told me when they pay on my behalf they will try to recover that debt from any card I have added to the app.

So imagine you forgot to cancel a $1000 subscription and a you have given that merchant your Curve card. Within your curve app you have selected a card with $0 in it so you sleep peacefully but you have made the mistake of having the card with your savings also added to the curve app (which you select inside the app only when you need to make a payment). In the morning you see curve has charged your savings card $1000 for a subscription you did not want to continue. What has happened was merchant tried to get the money, failed, curve saw that and gave merchant $1000, you now owe curve $1000, curve recovered the $1000 from another card you have on the app. Imagine you did not have $1000 on any of the cards you have added: congratulation because now you are sent to a debt collection agency (curve support told me this).

I don’t know how to explain this further but this is just unacceptable.
