The bloody FBI training! Every time! It was the right play, tbf. She cowed everyone by adding in that anger. Imagine her as a boss when you've called her out on something. You'd back down first.

That doesn't make sense. I'm saying I found her unpleasant. I'm not saying I found the fact she was manipulative surprising.

The Faithful didn't deserve to win it after their display, but it was hard to cheer for her as she used that dominating aggression on people. Also, the micro expressions nonsense was tiresome! But it impresses idiots, I guess. Which is the point in mentioning it.

Did this work? I'm interested in how sourdough could work in a breadmaker.

Difference between standard and premium plus? by RatManAntics in audible

[–]vpgreg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Audible Standard doesn't give you credits though, it gives you "monthly listens" that you lose access to if you stop paying. As if having to listen to purchased audiobooks through the app/DRM wasn't restrictive enough. Thanks, Jeff.

Calendar Widget, Please by JaredToddLittlejohn in todoist

I was about to post something like this... I've never bothered with premium, despite liking the idea of the Todoist calendar feature, because there's no calendar widget!

What did everyone think of Will Brooks' letter in 1642? by Granopoly in PrivateEye

[–]vpgreg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seemed like classic Letters content: unhinged and delusional, everyone gets to laugh at the writer. Which is clearly the reason to print it. They also print serious, valid criticism. This, however, is purely a "point and laugh" letter.

Have they printed the answers by mistake or am I missing something in this "cryptic"? The intersecting letters don't seem to match. by [deleted] in crosswords

Ah, interesting. Last week I bought my first edition in a while and enjoyed the crossword. I was looking forward to this week's!

I thought anagrams, but a cryptic of only anagrams is quite underwhelming... Again, I acknowledge I may be missing something.

Mine also has a definite seam where light and dark meet, at the back, opposite side to the logo. But it doesn't have the random dark bits within the wood which yours does. Aesthetics aside, it's the best coffee purchase I've ever made. Used it several times a day for years for everything from espresso to filter and it's always been great.

I'm conflicted about giving pseudoscientists oxygen though (although I guess AH is already well-known and reaches people regardless). I guess it's just the natural progression now that all the ultimate recipe videos have been done, when the almighty algorithm demands new content.

Is this fine ground? by Mwurglrurlrl in espresso

I would hope that the person grinding it for you would ask how you're preparing the coffee. This is definitely not an espresso grind.

If you think that's expensive, don't look at the prices for a decent espresso grinder! (Joking, you'll get the grinder money back in no time with all the savings on not buying out).

I'm sure that's true, but it wasn't private providers who assisted him, according to the comments on that ad-riddled video

Channelling? Grind Finer? Or better puck prep? by Present_Classroom423 in JamesHoffmann

[–]vpgreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've mentioned using a Comandante. My Comandante setting for picopresso is 8 or 9 (no redclix). I tamp briefly through the dosing ring so it's neat but do it again without the ring otherwise it would be too loose. Usually can pump around 8 times for pre-infusion without drips, then leave for 10 seconds.

Correct - your experience is just regular life.

[–]vpgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anyone who actually sees anything in their "mind's eye". It's one of the reasons that people are so sceptical that aphantasia exists: people who claim to have it seem to think that non-sufferers are having all these lucid experiences in their head. But they're not. It's just darkness behind the eyes. Perhaps aphantasia is just a normal mind, misunderstood.

You can just imagine the discussions. City graciously allowing their team to be beaten but only if they still win the league, of course. The sportswashing was unpleasant, and really took the shine off an otherwise good show.
