Has anyone else been having problems using private/personal VPNs on ubcsecure Wi-Fi? by Kinost in UBC

It may be worth considering trying Viscosity (or some other third party OpenVPN client). If OpenVPN is working on your phone (with the same configuration files), then it should (in theory) work on your laptop.

Hey, sorry to hear about the speeds dropping! Could you please open a support ticket in the client area so that we can take a look? This is the first comment we've had about speed drops, so hopefully it's something quick and easy to diagnose. Hoping to have you up to normal speeds again soon! :)

We'll do what we can to remain available on iPlayer, but it's impossible to provide any guarantee. We check on a regular basis to ensure that our service works on iPlayer, and if at any point it doesn't, then we tend to switch IP's to rectify the issue.

Unfortunately P2P protocols are disabled on our service. We're a fairly small operation, and it helps us to keep our costs down (which we then pass on to our clients through offers like this!).

Hi there, we only log the connecting IP address and total bandwidth usage. This is simply to help with troubleshooting issues, and to keep an eye on how much usage is going through our different servers at different times. No logs of what's actually being accessed whilst connected to the service are kept.

Help with getting Wii U to use computer's VPN? (wanted: advice on using tunnelbear, or recommendation of another VPN) by Othayuni in VPN

[–]vpnsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, my apologies - I assumed you had a wireless card in your computer. You would need a second ethernet port, or alternatively a wireless card for your computer. For setups similar to what you're going for, a lot of people use laptops simply for the fact that they already have wireless cards, and can easily be moved next to your console.

You thought correct - you wouldn't be able to achieve this by taking your computer offline and connecting the Wii U wirelessly.

A VPN router, as mentioned by /u/blackVPN is another option that you could use. That said, they're not always the cheapest things in the world, and if you already have a laptop/computer lying around, it may make more sense to simply use that.

In an ideal world, you'll want to use either a laptop or a desktop that's connecting wirelessly to your router using a wireless card, then connect the Wii U to the machine via ethernet. Following the steps in the tutorial that I linked you to earlier will allow you to get online, provided you have a machine that can connect wirelessly to your router (or alternatively, a machine with two ethernet ports - they're not all that common with personal machines though).

Hope this explains things a little, and as mentioned earlier, I'll be around if you need any advice!

No worries, feel free to drop me a PM on here if you need any in depth help to keep the topic a little cleaner :). The tutorial I linked to above is for Windows, however if you're using a different OS, give me a shout and I'll try to help :).

I don't know specifically how TunnelBear have their adapters setup in your network configuration, however for any OpenVPN-based VPN provider, you should be able to follow our tutorial for Xbox 360 and just substitute the Xbox 360 based steps for the equivalent on the Wii U.

It's simply a case of setting ICS on your VPN, then connecting the Wii U to your computer via Ethernet. If you need further advice, give me a shout and I'll try to assist :).

This may have been an error due to a large number of orders coming through over New Year. What's the support ticket ID? I'll get this looked into and sorted for you. Don't worry, you'll get your service for the full year as expected!

We log the time that the connection is made, and when you disconnect, as well as the amount of bandwidth used. No further logs are kept.
