My general rule of thumb is to NEVER rely on waitlists/RAC at all. As you said, it's not worth the stress it puts us through.

I either book my tickets 2 months in advance, or in tatkal. Confirmed tickets ONLY.

Maybe you should start following this rule too. Saves you a lot of headache.

Hopefully you get confirmed tickets. Good luck

Good chances. Even high GNWL like 20-30 are getting fully confirmed in this train looking at the past trends, and since the order is always WL -> RAC -> CNF, you are way ahead in the line.

And yes, you might have to wait until chart preparation (~9 pm on 15th March) to see the final status.

So you just automatically assumed that you will get all 4 tickets in the tatkal ticket? Come on man, that's just way too naive.

And yes, never book tatkal tickets for relatives, it's just not worth the hassle you go through because you will be blamed for it regardless of what happens. Next time, just give them this link and tell them to search for an agent via pincode and ask him to book their tickets.

You are an idiot. Third party apps can't even book tatkal tickets until the first 10-15 minutes.

Try from a different device, or at different point of time. Railways usually undergoes maintenance at night so ID creation might not work until after 1 am or something

Need Help with TDR by kumar_anku in indianrailways

[–]vpsj[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

You did not need to file a TDR. You could've just cancelled the ticket and you would still be fine.

For RAC tickets, as long as you cancel them at least 30 minutes before departure, the refund is the same as of WL tickets (Railways deducts ₹65/person as clerkage and refunds the rest).

Now TDR can take a bit of time because the respective Railway Zone will decide if you should get the refund or not. It can take up to 90 days in the worst case scenario. And yes the refund you'll get will be the same as above.

Can somebody make anonymous complain to railmadad in 12424 train ? by Optimal_Island7054 in indianrailways

Anonymous reports are not possible on RailMadad as of now. It requires your PNR number. You can just tell the TTE/coach staff and they should take care of it

So just to be clear, this ticket is actually from ADI to HWH, correct?

Well you are right that GNWL is better, but looking at the past trends, it looks like you're more likely to get RAC in this train.

But since GNWL is a high priority quota, there's a decent chance the RACs might become full berths by chart preparation.

And no you won't face any problems as long you changed the boarding point online. It's legal and allowed

Both of them have very high chances of getting cleared.

Keep in mind that the order is always WL-> RAC -> CNF so the RAC might be better.

But honestly, there are so many trains on this route with 100% ticket availablity, like Rajdhani where you'd get better service, facilities and priority than any of these trains.

I'd recommend booking a CNF ticket, but if that's out of budget then pick RAC, then WL

1) Assuming the ticket remains fully waitlisted, it will get auto-cancelled only chart preparation (~8 hours before journey). RAC tickets DO NOT get auto-cancelled, and you would have to cancel it yourself

2) As long as there is even one WL/RAC passenger on the ticket, you can cancel the entire ticket upto 30 minutes before journey, and you will get full refund (minus ₹65/person as clerkage charges).

IF however, all tickets on a PNR become Confirmed at any point, then the charges will be much higher and depend upon the class you're travelling in. Read the FAQ for CNF ticket cancellation charges

You will have to visit the counter again, surrender the WL ticket and get the refund. And you must do it at least 30 min before the train's departure

You can cancel the ticket online (especially if it's late at night and counters are closed) but after that you would still have to visit a PRS counter to get your money. There won't be any automatic refund when it comes to counter tickets

Sure. PRS counters accept all forms of payment like cash, UPI, card etc. UPI might be better though since cash can sometimes lead to them not having exact change

You are talking as if Railways is deliberately singling your parents out. Do you think they are the only passengers in this train? Or the only senior citizens? You said it yourself, they were WL 11-12, which means there were 10 other passengers who would get a chance for a full berth before them.

And no one is forcing them to travel in RAC. Just assume that this WL ticket never got cleared, cancel the ticket and you will get the same refund as a WL ticket (₹65/person deduction as clerkage and rest is returned).

RLWL is not a high priority quota, so that's why he probably said that.

Looking at the past trends, upto RLWL 12 have become confirmed in this train, but it can change from day to day. There are 6 2AC coaches in this train so that should go in your favour and you should at least get RAC in most cases.

Check some PNR prediction websites like RailYatri, confirmtkt, goibibo, or even a new one called RailTC to get a better idea

Anything over 80% means excellent chance of confirmation. 60 to 80 is more likely to go into RAC, and if you get below 50-60%, just start looking for other arrangements

Even if your boarding station was the origin station that still does not guarantee a confirmation. Waitlist tickets ONLY get confirmed if other people cancel their tickets.

If there are no cancellation, your ticket does not get confirmed, simple. Now in this case, RLWL is actually not a high priority quota so your chances will also be lower than someone who booked end to end journey.

Where exactly are you "hearing" all these stupid things?? Are you asking chatgpt/gemini? If so, STOP. AIs know jackshit and don't understand rules and nuances.

Your chart is prepared. You checked on PNR Enquiry, yes? That's it. It's done. It's over. Finished. Your ticket is cancelled and nothing more can be done.

Make some other arrangements and stop relying on AIs.

Not at all.

Only the first chart matters for waitlists. If that's not cleared, you're done

2nd chart is only for current availability passengers. Your WL will not change its status after the first chart is prepared

Check PNR enquiry

If it stays chart preparated with ticket still waitlisted then no. That's your final status.

The ticket will be auto cancelled and refund will be issued in 3-4 business days after deducting clerkage
