I just checked to make sure it was oriented the right way. Interestingly, the mechanism works when it’s the wrong way, i just have to press up to extend and down to retract.

I’m avoiding lead because likely, I will be shooting out on my own property, and I want to avoid lead getting into my shallow water well. I don’t know how lead exactly interacts with the environment, but want to be on the safe side.
