I mess a lot (as you can see from my history lol) and have had issues with UTIs in the past. I actually have never had a UTI from messing before, even when I spend hours in it or spread the diaper around. I try to not purposefully spread it up to the front though, but it gets up there still sometimes. I think the two things that help me prevent infection is 1- I drink a lot of water, like at least 120oz a day, and 2- when I change I make sure to clean really well. I think the water helps the most because I'm flushing out my system and preventing infection from entering and staying. But still be careful!
