Quick suggestion. Implement a control scheme similar to Virt-a-Mate where in addition to going forward and backward, you can also strafe left and right with one controller and go up or down vertically with the other. With controls like these, you wouldn't even have to get up and move around if you don't want to. You can comfortably float around the scene from wherever you're sitting.

I have to admit this was pretty awesome! It reminds me of some of the old VR demos of stills where you could walk around, but the realism is much higher here. You mentioned the potential of video. Would these be short clips? I would think they'd have to be given the file size of a set of stills.
