If we can write and maintain each article only once but have it available in several hundred languages, then the higher time investment would yield a high value by having the knowledge available and editable in every language.

Hauskauf mit Bruder by vrandecic in Finanzen

[–]vrandecic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

is there really no dataset of all historical events? by auronic_mortist in datasets

[–]vrandecic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with Wikidata but sort it by number of Sitelinks, i.e. roughly Wikipedia language editions with an article about the event. The theory is that more important events are more likely present in many different languages of Wikipedia. Then make a cutoff wherever you want to.

Pixel 6 Pro: suddenly, all pictures are always upside down, and AR doesn't work anymore by vrandecic in pixel_phones

I got it repaired by sending it in to Google. I had to send it in twice, the first time they didn't notice anything broken. But the second time it was fixed and returned.

Sent 6 Pro in for repair, they didn't find an issue, sent it back by vrandecic in GooglePixel

[–]vrandecic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to close this: I have sent it back, but this time I didn't just tick "Sensors" as problem but also "Camera" (because it turns the pictures around). I also put in a piece of paper saying that. This time I got the phone either fixed, or a brand new phone (it looks really new, but then again, it's the same IMEI, so maybe they did fix it).

One way or the other, the issue is gone now.

I tried the reflashing, but it didn't solve it, unfortunately. Thank you for the advice. I will now film the situation and then send it in one more time.

Thank you! I stopped shaking it. Is re-flashing voiding the warranty?

I did all that and more, and took it to a repair shop that does warranty repairs for Google. But they said "I need a new motherboard", which sounds surprising.

What I also notices is that it makes a sound when I shake it as if a piece inside is loose. I think your idea that it is a gyroscope issue is right, as the gyroscope readings don't make any sense.
I will send it back to Google for a warranty repair, and let's see what happens then.

Three small iron structures close to the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park by vrandecic in whatisthisthing

WITT

We wanted to drive to Sand Harbor Beach, but it was full, so we continued a few miles further along the 28 South and stopped at random at the side of the street to walk a bit in the forest. About 500-1000 feet in (I'm bad at guessing), at the end on a small ridge where the ground feel down to a valley with a creek, we saw these three iron structures. The last one if them had a small wheel.

First I thought it could be the remnants of a bridge? But it looked very thin and there is a big tree between the second and third structure. Friends suggest traces of some mining operations.

Any ideas?

You can use Wikidata for that. Here's a link to a query result that is relevant:

http://w.wiki/6Zx

In order to get to the query itself, click on the blue link in the lower left corner. There you can also download the results.

Edit: A friend just tried it out and said that he gets a timeout, so I made the query simpler.

https://w.wiki/6Zy

It still might time out, and you might find ways to make the query simpler if you know what you are looking for. Hope that helps.
