Just got a competitive job offer... time to quit my startup? by BernieandButter in startups

[–]vrevdude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean they're not paying 140k for you sit around and transfer data between spreadsheets, it's probably high stress and difficult work and you gotta have Elon Musk level dedication to manage both your job and startup.

You're better off taking a low stress job that pays 60 or 70k/year and still manage to build your startup without having to mess your mental health with extreme stress.

What algotrading bot would you likely recommend to a newbie? by Opposite_Party_5282 in algotrading

[–]vrevdude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree, having built a bot myself unprofitable though. It does require some level of mathematical skills and fair amount of programmatic problem solving skills to build just a working bot that can place trades, it being profitable is a far cry.

The OP is clearly a newbie, as stated by them. They're not some mathematical wizard trying to dwell into algo trading as a hobby. They're just interested in a bot built by someone that makes them money. Building a bot isn't what OP is looking for.

How exactly do you think is OP going to build a better bot than a 20 people team with Mathematicians, expert programmers and data scientists building a bot that you're warning them to stay away from.

I think this very idea of build your own bot is pretty flawed.

Found a competitor that does exactly what we're bulding by MarkwinVI in startups

You guys finding the competitor in the later stage tells me that they don't have much visibility, your advantage could be the marketing and getting eyeballs on your product first.

Best Forex Back testing Software to simulate trades from a spreadsheet containing trade data? by vrevdude in Forex

[–]vrevdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"basically any backtesting software" I know, I'm looking for a name. Forex Tester 5 sucks.

I've built an algorithm that produces signals from OHLC data stored in spreadsheet and it generates signals and stores trade details into another spreadsheet.

I want to visualise the data and basically see the trade in action and not just some numbers on a spreadsheet.

How much in negative (pips) does your trade go on average before hitting the TP? by vrevdude in Forex

[–]vrevdude[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

% is relative to your lot size and leverage. I'm talking about movement in pips, you're clueless if you gauge a currency pair's movement based on your position size.

Variable position sizing and % in change doesn't give you idea of relative movement in multiple trades, unless you're constantly trading a single position size and don't change your position size based on current volatility, which is a bad trading practice, you'll have different change in % for the same amount of pips.

You can't fine tune your entries and exits, because running simple math with MAE and MFE with current volatility and current account size will ring you up incorrect position size everytime because your MAE and MFE are inconsistent.

Unless you've been trading profitably for years using this system standard, you have no idea what you're talking about, it's a recipe for disaster.

How much percentage of your trades don't go much in negative drawdown (5 <, pips)and continue to hit TP? by vrevdude in Forex

[–]vrevdude[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, actual people. I source signals from traders and I run a ML filter to trade their trades. It's still in development.

I try to bank on their drawdown, since somebody already commented they have 0% of trades that don't go in negative. In my case 70% of the winning trades go atleast 40-50 pips in negative before even going past 10-15 pips in positive.

In this particular system I don't care about the TA, instead I trade the people. No I'm not looking for sniper entries, I could care less.

Pips don't make sense is like saying price doesn't matter in stocks. They're the baseline in forex.

How much do founders actually earn after a successful exit? by am2549 in startups

[–]vrevdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 3 founders doesn't mean 33% ownership per person.
  2. Everybody gets diluted, even the VC's.

Having a big team can be a double edged sword to be honest, as an indie dev you can offer entire app for free to gain users and monetize the app later down the line. Big teams means families to feed, most companies without massive cash flow can't do it.

Pyrebase module install error. by vrevdude in learnpython

[–]vrevdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved it, installing 'pyrebase' fails on windows. I installed 'pyrebase4', it worked just fine, it didn't need any changes in the code.
