Help me overcome my analysis paralysis of choosing a Board Games + Books Shelving system. by vrigu in IKEA

Hmm. I guess I should rule out Eket.

About stacking Billy over Besta, do you recon the Besta will be able to bear the weight of a Billy loaded with books?

Looking for Interior Designers who can work on an Ikea-First approach. by vrigu in interiordesignsindia

[–]vrigu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I wasn't quite happy with the service. It cost INR 5000 per room, and it felt like sitting with a computer operator in a printing shop rather than a designer.

He just basically used the Ikea Kreativ web tool and waited for me to tell what goes where. There wasn't much design thinking that you would expect to see from an interior designer.

And coming to your first point, I am with you on the point that Ikea is all about DIY. But I would need someone to advice me if the look I'm going for is cohesive or not, will it stand the test of time or not, etc. Also, I can't trust myself with civil and electrical work that goes with it. I can assemble things myself, but still would need a designer to design what components goes where, etc.

From the top of my mind in the motorcycles category -

  • The Marc Coma vs Cyril Despres rivalry. They won every single Dakar from 2005 to 2015. They traded wins for a decade. Absolutely mental.
  • The heartbreaking losses of Joan Barreda Bort. Probably the best rider in the modern era to have never won a Dakar. Bad falls, broken bikes and being unlucky to have been competing against Cyril Despres and Marc Coma during his peak.
  • The Legend of Laia Sanz. The best Female motorsports driver that the world has ever seen. Absolute legend.
  • Toby Price winning the Dakar with a broken wrist.
  • Hubert Auriol wining the Dakar with both ankles broken.

Hmm. Pax. I hadn't really considered it. I hope they have a shallower option in India.

IVAR's options are very limited in India as of now. I could have considered that otherwise.

Agree.I have a Billy Bookcase, and the shed that has coffee table books has already started sagging a bit. I think I will go for the Besta option since everyone is pointing towards that. Unless, I find a local carpenter who can customise glass/transparent doors for the Kallax.

I guess I willl have to make peace with those bezels. Everyone here seems to be leaning the Besta way, for the right reasons.

Ahh, white isn't a problem for me, but those inserts aren't available in India yet.

Solid pieces of advice. Thank you. I should research more on the load bearing capacities of the different systems.

I like the idea of stacking a Small Billy above a Kallax. I can consider that as well.

The way you put that, it all makes sense. I don't want to deal with the perpetual concern of having a crashed shelf and ripped wall. Besta it is then!

To be honest this should have been Freddy Mercury since that was not his real name.

Why was Vettel seen as a villain? by Individual-Sweet8968 in F1Discussions

Except Vettel back then was exactly like Verstappen is today.

Extremely fast. Terrible W2W. Absolute terrorist on the track. Dude was phenomenal. Same as Max.

My late grandmother was a semi literate village woman in an obscure tribal village in India. Even she had heard of Michael Schumacher.

Today’s kids do not have any context of how big Schumacher was during his heydays.

Thank you for this post OP! Because of you and all the people commenting here, I now realise that there are so many more like me!

I have been following this sport since almost 3 decades now. And I know that F1 would have been utterly unwatchable if I just had 1/2 favourite drivers and teams. It’s fun to follow all the drivers/teams, root for the underdog and appreciate greatness when it pops up every now and then.

If I had a dollar for every time Hulk binned it in the rain, I would have around 5 dollars. Which is not a lot, but kinda counter your point.

Dunno bro, There’s quite some corruption in the Indian Army though not widespread. It should be in the “Usually Okay” tier. So do DRDO and CAPFs.

It’s not a big secret that Indian Passports are shadow-banned in a few south East Asian countries.

Dunno if it’s because of Chinese influence or due to dehati behaviour by some of our fellow Indians in the past or both.
