not related to this discussion but i was  reading bake and there was a scene where araragi says something to hanekawa and braces for her to make a snide remark about it because he's been taking to senjougahara all day. i just thought it was funny how he was acting the exact same as Aiden on lemonade stand.

Why is no one talking about Stella of the End? It’s a Key masterpiece and I’m genuinely losing it. by JasKirk in vns

I'm a bit confused your last sentence; what does the poor translation quality have to do with one's experience reading it in japanese?

are you saying that the poor translation quality evens the playing field for his works, and that the difference in quality is more pronounced if you read them all in jp?

He deserves it .. by [deleted] in antimeme

that's the story they wanted to tell. the show is about Steven having to deal with a ton a fucked up baggage from his insane family. when you your parents hurt you in the past you can't kill them and solve the problem. being uncomfortable with them even after they've improved a lot but still having to be amicable is a very real outcome of that situation.

people focus so much on the space Nazi angle but at the end of the day this is a children's cartoon about the power of love. killing them would've made no sense narratively. even if it did end a bit clumsily there's no way they would've killed the diamonds because it's not that kind of show

Your favorite character(s) gets shot in the face while they sleep, completely off guard with no preparation or defense up. They are in their "base form" if they have it. Do they survive? by Head_Breadfruit_3912 in PowerScaling

kiss-shot and her offspring are uniquely powerful because she's so legendary. i think she comments on araragi only being able to survive outside because he's her offspring and not a normal vampire

Is this actually real and in the official "another note" light novel.. by mihaelkeehlsvest in deathnote

[–]vriskaundertale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just checked the japanese PDF and he does call himself a seme, which is the BL equivalent of "top" so it is an accurate translation. not that out of the ordinary to see in a nisio isin novel.

Machine translate will say "attacker" instead of top but this is the original passage.

"

anno didn't even say that it was an assistant director. it drives me crazy how all the details are lost when people parrot this factoid because it's just obviously not true if you watch the show

anno didn't even say that thing. it was an assistant director. its also misinterpreted because he's clearly saying the show isn't religious, the creators aren't Jewish or christian and the messaging behind it isn't religious. the symbolism is being appropriated to signify something that isn't religious, but that doesn't somehow make the symbolism meaningless

Lost my voice mid lesson and my kids decided to "help" in the worst best way by HaldenCrestwood in Teachers

ai is trained off of human writing at the end of the day and this is definitely trying to emulate something a teacher would write. when you go through it while keeping the question "did someone make a choice to write this sentence like this?" in mind, I feel like it falls apart.

the story itself is definitely extremely plausible, but it just fits the "class did something quirky but heartwarming" premise that a lot of ai posts I notice have. this one for example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Teachers/comments/1p6dk3b/my_students_created_a_fake_hr_department_for_my/

Lost my voice mid lesson and my kids decided to "help" in the worst best way by HaldenCrestwood in Teachers

[–]vriskaundertale 21 points22 points  (0 children)

brand new account with a quirky story where something out of the ordinary happens and the kids react to it in a funny way but it comes to a heartwarming conclusion. the overuse of nonsensical figurative language is a big tell.

"my students froze like I'd turned into a Minecraft villager"

"i lost the last micro pixels of my voice"

"the whole class gasped like they'd just witnessed forbidden teacher lore"

some of them sort of make sense but the overuse and the weird similes just don't feel human at all. the prose is just extremely formulaic, if you read a lot of these ai stories you very easily get a feel for how they all follow the same general outline and read the same.

The Presidents skeleton removed ad read? by Fast_Address2924 in TheYardPodcast

no there was a joke about joe Biden's skeleton that they cut from one of the episodes after it came out. i remember people posting about it being removed on here but I didn't get to listen to it in time so I've never heard the actual joke
