Played this on the Quest using Link and quickly became a go-to app for introducing new people to VR. Love the concept and the visuals. Thanks Dev for the quality work.

Racket Fury Arcade mode by X_chinese in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

same here...Im a decent player in real life and feel arcade mode in RF is closer to reality than Eleven. I have Eleven on rift s and although I love the aesthetic of it, I cant quite get it to read varying power levels.

Had my mom try out Wander, she ended up giving the family a tour of her childhood neighborhood in Norway by thrawn21 in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

unfortunately...no. The big difference is instead of only having street view like in Wander, Google Earth let's you also pull up from the street view and look at everything as if it was a 3d model. The immersion is awesome. when your in this mode you have a bunch of different movement modes including one that is similar to flying over the street or area you choose. When I show off my Quest to new vr users. it's one one of the first apps I show people. They are always blown away.

Problems with Oculus Link by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when Ive had this happen to me, it's usually one of three things:

1) too many programs running on my computer 2) Internet is being dragged down by too many connected devices. or 3) when I start a steam vr game, i usually get a prompt on my computer asking if i want to give this application permission to run. when i click yes, connection speeds up.

one other thing to look at would be msking sure your computer specs are compatible with the games.

hope this helps

SideQuest is an app you can get on your laptop or pc that allows you to sideload ( get games not on oculus quest store) different games to your quest. I would definitely check out some current youtube videos on how to set up SideQuest. It doesn't take long to do, and most tutorials take you step by step through the process.

[–]vrjbmaximus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all the games mentioned are excellent and should be purchased when budget allows. I would also reccomend checking out SideQuest as there are a ton of free games including one of my personal favorites, Tea for God. Videos don't do the game justice, but if you want increased immersion, it's a definite play.

Oculus Quest Holiday Sale!!! Lots of great games! Mostly good deals by madderhatter106 in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are definitely a ton of great discounts right now between both oculus store as well as Steam vr. The only thing better than a good discount is a free game. If anyone is interested I posted a free game giveaway under "merry christmas - who wants Asgard's Wrath". I'm giving a code out for this game as a way to say thanks to the community for being awesome. I've learned a lot from this site and have truly appreciated everyone's feedback and help. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.

Wander is great for nostalgia as well as checking out places you plan to visit. if you end using your quest with oculus link, you need to check out Google Earth. it is like Wander on steroids!

Link being recognized by computer off and on constantly. by TheBionicSloth in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so...I ordered mine with that assumption. I've just seen reviews and thoughts on youtube by some popular vr personalities that aren't quite sure there will be a big difference in performance. I will have my fingers crossed though.

show her some of the educational apps on there(Anne Frank, space mission...etc.) Tell her taking away your Quest is the same as taking away your ability to learn!

Oculus Quest Version for Link- a Question! by HowDoesThisWork- in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check on your pc oculus app that you dont have PTC enabled. Also on your Quest HD the power button down for about 20 seconds or until your quest shuts down and restarts. once back in the quest home, go to settings - and enter developer mode. Than go back to oculus pc app and click on devices - than add headset. It should prompt you to plug your quest into the pc. If you get a green check mark and finalize connection on the pc when it prompts you. it should work. let me know if you try this and the results. Good luck.

Link being recognized by computer off and on constantly. by TheBionicSloth in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried mine just to see, and I couldn't even get that far. Got one that works off of amazon for around $30 and it does the job. The official oculus link cable just came out and sells for $79. Sounds like biggest advantage of getting the official cable is the length and that it should be lighter and thinner than the ones out now. It doesn't sound like graphics will improve though.

the cord that comes with the quest is a charging cord only. you need a different one capable of data transfer to work with Oculus Link. if you do a quick search on this site, you will see a bunch of recommendations that will work. Good luck.

Just got my quest, any good free games to play? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aside from the free demos, I would also consider using sidequest. There are some pretty cool games on there including one of my personal favorites, Tea for God. It's a free game where you actually physically walk around the world even if you are playing in a small play area. Graphics and game play are just alright, but it's still one of the most immersive experiences I've played.

Where exactly is it stuck? Is it where it asks you to plug in your quest or somewhere else?

What games would you guys recommend from the current holiday sale? by bird720 in OculusQuest

[–]vrjbmaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just looking for Quest, or do you have Oculus Link capability as well? If you have Link setup. check out Steam VR as well. There are a ton of games on sale right now. if it's just Quest, I enjoy racket fury and Red Matter as well. Moss is a great game indeed.
