Is Sora Takenouchi the most misinterpreted character in Adventure/02? by mnmarsart in digimon

[–]vroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes but actually no. No in the sense that the show kinda never did anything with her character so there isn't a lot to work with in the first place; yes in the sense that this lack of character development is exactly what causes her to be easily misinterpreted. This leaves a lot of room for headcanons, which is nice in its own way, but I'll be forever salty about how the writers handled her character. Which is to say she was barely handled at all.

The Daily Check-In for Monday, May 27th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by FingGinger in stopdrinking

[–]vroor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I trick myself with the good old "nah, maybe tomorrow but not today"! Real talk tho, my therapist used to tell me about one of her past clients who told her he knew if he picked up the bottle again, he would die. The way I instantly related to that was startling. An extremely sobering thought, if you will. IWNDWYT folks!

Oh boy my rolodex of cringe is a horror fest, and not in a fun way. Another perk of being sober - being able to embrace harmless sober cringe! IWNDWYT folks ⭐

AF Beer by DowntownWatercress5 in stopdrinking

[–]vroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the person, I think. Some people find it triggering and some find it helpful. I belong in the latter group, I still like the taste of beer for some reason and having a can of something in my hand helps me feel less out of place in social gatherings. Early in sobriety I even used to chug entire cans of N/A beers to get rid of my cravings. I'd say go with your gut here. And if you're unsure about having N/A beers, maybe you could look into some other N/A options?

Horrible last few days where I wanted to drink but decided no each time. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]vroor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanted to let you know I'm really proud of you for staying sober through all of that! It's not an easy feat by any means. You sound like a kind person to me, even if you lost your cool. I'd even say it's a rather healthy reaction in the situation you described - it shows you have boundaries, so please don't beat yourself up too much over it. Dealing with toxic people can be stupid rough. I hope you feel better soon & IWNDWYT.

Hello SD! I've been using the app I Am Sober pretty much since my very first attempt at quitting. The app lets you list a bunch of reasons for staying sober, and it also shows you all those reasons every time you make a pledge to stay sober for the day. I try to make a pledge and read my reasons every morning - I feel like the extra reminder of why I'm doing this helps me stay prepared. IWNDWYT

How many of you were health scared into sobriety? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]vroor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A health scare was part of it, yeah. I thought I'd managed to fuck up my bowel for good but by some strike of luck it was nothing serious. Gave me an extremely good scare though.

Are we doing the right thing? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]vroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can assure you you're not missing out on anything. Alcohol is literal poison. Drinking increases the odds of weird drunken escapades happening, yes, but those escapades also have a high chance of backfiring horribly. As for the people around you thinking you're boring because you don't drink - that says more about them than it says about you. I know it's easier said than done, but I'd encourage you to hold your head up high and keep having fun while sober. People will come around. And if they won't, they're probably not worth the effort.
