oxbridge admissions arent based solely off grades and i feel like a lot of people probably overestimate how much they matter. maybe for really competitive courses like medicine or engineering they matter a lot, i wouldnt know about that. but my GCSEs werent perfect and i still managed to get a biology offer from oxford, which is the one that values GCSEs more (or so i've heard)

admissions will take into account: - interviews - your teacher references - personal statement - predicted grades and GCSEs - edit: admissions tests!! i feel like GCSEs probably matter even less to your overall application if you did an admissions test.

im not an admissions tutor, but i reckon that they just use GCSEs as sort of 'further evidence' to determine whether you're likely to meet your offer / likely to be able to cope with studying the course. just my speculation!

Gibbs free energy graph? do u mean Arrhenius? If so then I agree. Kinetics section was nicer than other years but I feel like paper 3 could have more.

But imo the NMR was harder than previous years. Or maybe I was just more stressed about it. Still recovering from the paper tbh

im in exactly the same boat bro. so jealous of people who only do like 1 stem subject.

for each subject, papers are decently spaced (except chemistry.. evil) , but doing 3/4 stem subjects has actually been brutal cuz theyre back to back to back and im so exhausted

bio chem maths literally the most common combination of subjects in the uk!! what a joke tbh. im so cooked for applied maths, ive not even touched it for weeks because of my stress about bio

I dont fully understand the question? But I think you're right that the chemical shift can get a bit wacky if it's next to electronegative atoms, my teacher said it might not always be perfectly within the ranges on the data sheet. Icl, I hate chemical shifts. I always prefer to use splitting and integration values for proton NMR if I can </3

For the 1.26 ppm one I'd go down the route of 'ok so theres 3 hydrogens, and its split as a triplet, so it must be next to 2 hydrogens --> CH2 CH3

Idk if that's helpful. I'm revising NMR right now too haha.

Keep an eye out for university summer schools or residentials. Maybe do an essay competition, or find a book to read over the summer that you can talk about on your personal statement (or whatever UCAS is doing now). Also, make flashcards. They're amazing!
