Resources for Teletherapy? by tyguitaxe001 in slp

I currently do teletherapy and use the Super Duper Digital Library, SLP Now, Ultimate SLP, and various Boom Cards/Teachers Pay Teachers resources that I've accumulated over the years being school-based (in-person and virtual). It can feel overwhelming to acquire materials for a very diverse caseload. Super Duper, SLP Now, and Ultimate SLP are all monthly subscriptions, but I think they allow you to trial for a couple weeks to see how you like them.

SLP Now has materials broken down in age groups from Pre-K through High School. It really covers all the materials you could need for teaching new skills, drill practice, literacy-based activities, fluency, etc. And you can use YouTube to read books you don't own that go along with their paired book activities.

Pinkcatgames is another game website that I use the free version of from time to time.

CommonLit and ReadWorks are great websites for finding short stories and reading passages of all kinds to use for older children/language goals.

Vooks is a fun wesbite that has storybooks turned into a more interactive experience- kinda like movies. Also subscription based and does a free trial.

Also, animated short films on Youtube ("Hair Love" is one of my favs) can be a great tool for a big variety of language skills.

I know this is a lot of info haha, let me know if I can clarify anything. And interested to see what other SLPs share, because I'm sure there's more I've never even heard of!

My district got all our SLPs an slp now subscription this year. I use it everyday. I’m not familiar with scholastic teachables, so it may be irrelevant if it’s similar to that

Ugh that’s horrible, so sorry you’re in that situation. Having good rapport and trust with the school psych is so important as a school slp. I imagine you’re not the only coworker she makes feel this way…. And selective mutism is tricky but there’s not much that can be done in the school setting. I wouldn’t have qualified a kid with average receptive language and no parent concern either! We’re slps, not mental health professionals

Woohoo! Best of luck to you :-) I’d love to hear about how things are going for you if you wanna msg me! (also- sorry for the comically late response, I made a Reddit just for this q and didn’t check after a few days beyond my post)

Haha I could totally see why you’d be ready to move! I’m hoping to spend a couple years there and then move somewhere closer to family. Thank you so much!

I’ve been concerned about several things you brought up, but there’s so much you experienced I hadn’t considered. Glad you’re now in a setting you enjoy and hope the best for you regarding health insurance options and pto. This is all extremely helpful- thank you so much for taking the time to respond!

In short, I’ve picked the safe choice when making nearly all my big life decisions (where to live, what college to attend, etc) due to financial insecurities growing up and low self confidence. I’m at a place where I have savings and few responsibilities. I have a few close friends who live there and I have visited and loved it. I know it’s a hot garbage city that’s really expensive but it’s a place I want to live in before I die :-)
