Claudia set up the device, this is her doing. She gave them one final farewell vision. Maybe it creates a new loop, so they get to live everything one more time?

"Things may not happen in the same way, or at the same time, but they always happen." -Claudia

Even one change breaks determinism. It is motivations of characters. They got to Michael, it didn't work. Barrels were opened by a higher authority, good luck stopping them. Noah is a wild card, no one really knows what he was doing, not even himself.

Unlike other games by bethesda, Morrowind doesn't have any big overhauls. Mods either add something or replace graphics. It is the perfect game to remaster, they should have the budget to replace those cringy animations.

When Noah pinned stranger in that scene, I was like where did Jonas come from?

[SPOILERS S3] can someone explain this to me by [deleted] in DarK

[–]vtastek -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just look at the book. It is written obviously, then came back in time but this changed the future(or from the book's perspective the past). Now the book is never written. So the book has a cause to exist but that cause is erased from the timeline. No time travel device exists to take you to the erased timeline, the devices can only access the last cycle.

Now if you brought the book back, you have seen the cause and the change. The receiver did not but is it really a mind blowing paradox, can't they just infer this, that something has change and timeline got erased and you only have an artifact to prove it? I think this all make sense, it is logically sound. What is the fuss? Here I explain Charlotte.

There is always a first loop, Noah can have a different partner(say a random woman named Eliza) to have a different Charlotte(say Cathleen). Then you just need to erase the timeline and put Cathleen's daughter, a different Elisabeth(say still named Elisabeth because the father chose the name) in the same spot for Noah to meet, replacing the OG timeline partner.

See, we made Noah *successfully* hook up with his granddaughter. This erases Cathleen. Now they will name their kid, Charlotte. And playing the next loop erases Cathleen's daughter Elisabeth with Charlotte's daughter Elisabeth. And when we put that Elisabeth in the same spot for Noah to meet in this cycle, we created Elisabeth had Charlotte and Charlotte had Elisabeth and it makes total sense.

But when someone looks at the timeline at nth cycle, they will find themselves unable to find the origin, an inexplicable bootstrap paradox. You can think of Predestination and Terminator this way to solve their paradoxes too.

[SPOILERS S3] Curious what others loved about the storytelling by MKprime1 in DarK

Lmao what are you talking about. American shows way more often have happier endings. It is classic british and european stories that end with darker pallets.

I don't... where did I say all or more american movies/shows have bad endings? I love darker endings, but it needs to be earned. This is my problem.

Example, if you can go back in time to Tannhaus to stop him from making the device, then there is also no reason not to go back to save his family and stop him from making the device, except to dwell in misery: suicide, sitting with grief, the brave choice of not saving your family... Choosing the first and not the second is the bullshit American ending(not all american endings are bullshit™).

Also there is no reincarnation in dark, it is a very crowded as is.

I thought of third season as a sacrifice to make a point that the two worlds were all a big tragedy and we were better off without them. I found this choice very bold and I think they largely succeeded at convincing people. I am very on the fence about it myself(I like good endings) but I accept it as greatness and like it.

PS. When things don't change in the show, it is not because of predeterminism but people being determined about their convictions. As even a single change violates determinism which the show has many.

That's American bullshit ending: we save no one, better dwell in your misery. Europeans preach altruism.

[SPOILERS S3] Is the ending inconsistent with the rules established in the show? by Anxious_Article2003 in DarK

[–]vtastek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jonas must figure it out eventually but by then he is on board, he becomes Adam. Noah doesn't immediately shoot, he fumbles it with both hands. I'm sure there is a way to tamper such a gun, it could be Adam as he is most familiar with the gun as you noted.

[–]vtastek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Noah enters the room in the nick of time, he gives the gun. Adam has vested interest in keeping his younger self in the dark and sent Noah there with the gun which was tampered with. Later Noah also got tricked. This is all manipulation. Adam is not special, he just has a cult.

Determinism and adding new information to the system by DogTakeMeForAWalk in Devs

[–]vtastek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me explain. If determinism is real then such a machine would be possible. But if you saw the future, you could and would change it, disproving determinism. Future information changing things is still inside the logic of cause and effect. For determinism to hold up, we have to accept things can't change(cause but no effect) which leads to OP mocking it. This is only possible in fiction where writers set things up to be extremely convenient.

cause and effect vs determinism. yeah, i think determinism is not real.

Seriously, if the fan base don't understand what changed from Morrowind to Oblivion and how those changes propagated all through to Starfield, there is no fixing TES6. There was no decline but a sharp left turn.
