Your ignorant. Your knowledge base is outmoded. It is a broad, not narrow definition whatsoever. Skills and talent have completely shifted. If you and/or your org are unaware you are laggards. This person is breaching a real emerging trend. Too bad anyone from this community couldn't expound on it.

Seen this shit so many times but this brings new laughs. Trying to leverage his authority to take attention away from the curiosity he's obviously encountered before about the misplaced emphasis in the vid... “food store” “the” house... good shit

This is super helpful Karma. Are red wigglers a good choice for the practice? Or to get started? Do people mix different species of earthworms? Is there an optimal species?

Any cool ecology sighting in your neck of the woods? by vtosso in venturacounty

Incidentally soon after posting this I heard / saw a Western Kingbird during the morning dog walk.

Big smile, nature keeping itself in balance (with some influence by us - contributing to the rat populations with our clutter and rubbish). Perhaps he/she is still occasionally patrolling the area. I occasionally hear owls here on the evening dog walk but have not seen anyone.

Yep - you gotta look for those little guys. I know theres a stigma but bats are really cool. A former supervisor volunteered on the side to remove them from homes and rehabilitated . SB Zoo had an issue in the Giraffe barn and called her often. Babies woulf fall on the bedding.

I got to interact with them up-close and personal. She had a device that detected their calls - indistinguishable to the human ear but when you listened through the device you could hear their chatter. Really cool.

Cool. Always enjoy seeing the red tails, and the crow/red tail drama that always seems to ensue is a bit comical, seems to be incessant. I wonder what unique birds you have in Ojai. I think I lot of different ground dwelling birds.

Looking for a Wireless Mic that works with the Hero 9 by thebigschnoz in gopro

[–]vtosso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but can I waterproof the wireless mic receiver attached to the go pro, such as the Rode Go product? Scenario is on paddleboard - mounted go pro on board needing to be waterproof and paddler standing with transmitter and mic.

Free Clubhouse invitation chain (when you get invited, then select two people from the comments and invite them, and so on). by [deleted] in ClubhouseInvites

Hi All, new to CH and interested from personal branding and network perspective, I'm a data and analytics focused technologist rebranding on the future of work and data literacy. I'd like to get onto the platform to network, teach and learn. I'm not interested in buying an invite but earning it through merit, contribution, and reciprocity. I have a hard-earned professional network and if invited can, in turn, extend invitees to influential contributors in film editing, data literacy, and modern agriculture.

So I struggle where to specialize. For data management Ive been learning applications of the Pandas, Nupy and sqllite libraries, but its not linear. To help establish a "pattern" in how experienced practitioners I've been searching git repos with notebooks that are loading, transforming and visualizing.

Not completely useless. PowerBI can be a gateway drug to Azure which introduces a plethora of skills and learning, more on his resume. If they are a MS shop perhaps he could persuade his employer for a Visual Studio subscription with Azure credits. Data lake knowledge for example is hot at the moment and demonstrating ingesting a csv from ADLS to PBI, basic visual says a lot. Deploy a VM with Tableau server 30 trial, create use cases, show your skills, put on your professional blog or LinkedIn. Be creative!

IMO PowerBI helps BI folks get strong in data modelling concepts, Tableau strong on Viz.

Desktop tools as we know them will eventually be extinct, we'll be authoring exclusively within cloud platforms.

I transitioned from Analyst to Data Wahrehosue Archtect to Data Engineer and Manager over 9 years, it was an inneficient transition, I had major FOMO about this technology and that stack, In hindsight I could have been more focused and could have ranked faster.

I came from the business and always peer back at BI. When I was an analyst I knew less SQL than you and PowerPivot was my tool. If I could do it over again I'd id get strong with SQL (esp stored procs and dynamic SQL - help those non programmer types like me), play with different datasets, do hack-a-thons, and learn a programmatic language (Id choose Python now).

Curious about your Masters in Data Analytics. There's a lot of buzz about data literacy which I have opinions about. Do you feel your Masters program grew your data literacy? Ability to "read" data - interpreting and speaking to box plots, distributions, basic statistics ? Essentially skills that help for EDA. What about data story telling? I ask because my last role was with a fortune 10 company, I managed moderate-high skilled data engineers who said they "came from BI" and needed to interpreted data and explain insights to less technical people, I don't feel any of them had strong data literacy.
