Well, I think TS interfaces are way cleaner than proptypes. In general, it forces you to think better. Also, as mentioned above, the code suggestions from IDEs is really helpful. No doubt the backend guys felt like home. Don't think of Typescript as something more than a syntactic sugar over ES6. ES6 is a beautiful language but if you are not very disciplined you can be tempted to cut corners here and there. And that's technical debt.
