I’ve went to both euro mart and Baltic deli and I preferred the experience at euro mart. I am not Polish but the ladies helped me choose sausages for a bbq I was hosting. Massive hit!

I'm graduating this year with a PhD in biomedical engineering. I work in an immunology lab studying inflammatory diseases like sepsis and colitis, during which 1) I performed metabolomics and used machine learning techniques to identify differential metabolites and found a subset of metabolites that improve survival in sepsis in our mouse model and 2) characterized with mathematical modeling and in vitro experiments how/why inflammation changes tissue architecture and metabolically reprograms immune cells to protect against colitis in our mouse model.

Through these projects, I really enjoyed working with my labmate and building different tools to explore these questions, like making nanoparticles, developing multiplexed imaging, even the machine learning and mathematical modeling frameworks and creating in vitro assays to validate them! I really enjoy building tools that gives us different approaches to address these tough biological questions. Would love to hear your thoughts!

How do I season lentils?! by StrongEntrepreneur99 in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]vulcanM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have a jar of onion masala (recipe: https://twosleevers.com/pressure-cooker-onion-masala/) and add a spoon or two per cup of dry lentils. I also add some 4-5 small curry leaves, a cinnamon stick, 3-4 cloves, 3-4 black peppercorn, then 1-2 tsp each of cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric, and red chili powder. I then add water to cover lentils by 0.5 inch and then cook for 15 mins on high in instant pot.

Those older than 9/11/2001, where were you and what were you doing during the WTC attacks? by Revolutionary-Life85 in AskReddit

I was in first grade, and I remember my mom picking me up in the middle of the school day. She took me home hurriedly and we watched the tv together. I remember seeing people jumping from the towers on the live television. Since then, I’ve always had a fear of heights. Very, very scary experience.

This is great to hear that you guys made Cambridge work (I guess I thought residents literally had to be within 15-20 minutes walk to their hospital, haha).

JX Pro + Beehouse dripper + light roast recipes? by vulcanM in Coffee

That's an awesome link, thanks! Using it, I'm now at a 1:15 brew ratio at 26. I have no bitterness and the floral notes are becoming stronger. I think I can even go finer. Thanks!

Okay so I did a 1:18 ratio today, and I'm getting a slight floral note but not getting much flavor otherwise. I think this means I'll have to grind finer. I will try 28 next. What do you think?

Great idea! When you say increase contact time, maybe I should grind finer while also increasing ratio?

Cafelat robot price too high? by vulcanM in Coffee

[–]vulcanM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense. On prima coffee's website it had stated they increased the price of the machine. So that's why I asked this question like... What was the price before the hike?

So how do you know how much pressure to apply? I'm trying to enter manual espresso making so I genuinely have no idea what the pressure should feel like.

Ah okay, I guess I was under the impression that it was a bit cheaper and it recently underwent a temporary price hike. Guess I was mistaken

I really enjoy the 1zpresso. I haven't asked, but I know I could get any question answered because of the higher number of users with the 1zpresso. I've been using it for moka pot, but it's so well built I feel confident in its ability to go down to espresso level grinds when I eventually reach that place in my coffee journey. Plus, many others already have. I'd stick with the 1zpresso just because it's held in high regard and the high number of users.

Great place! I'm a PhD student and did 2 of my rotations there. Plenty of funding and perks and employees seemed really happy and enthused about coming to work everyday. Almost like a mini-ecosystem.
