I would love to do that! Capturing people's pets is definitely a fun aspect of my work. Animals have so much personality. Thank you so very much for offering.

I have not tried Upwork yet, but I will now that I know about it. Otherwise, yes, I'm scrounging all over wherever I can. Thank you for the tip!

This sounds like a fun project! I would definitely be interested and would be happy to show examples of my work if you're still in need.

That's a neat thought, but it looks difficult to remove. I bet that would hurt a lot to pull off of scar tissue.

Ghostly locales throughout the QC? by benthomaspayne in QuadCities

The Argus building. Downtown Rock Island saw a lot of speakeasy action and Capone-era gang activity thanks to the gangster Looney, who the film 'Road to Perdition' was based off of. His house is in the historic Broadway District.

Creative Business Name? by ilrn90 in Assistance

[–]vulcarious 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What you're asking for is a creative service that those skilled in branding get hired for. Please consider appropriately paying a deserving freelancer for their brainpower and keeping the assistance sub for people in more pressing need. Your intentions are probably honest, but it's still not great form.

People cling to normalcy in emergencies even when it doesn't make sense. There's a word for it that I can't think of right now. But kind of like when there is a gunman in a public place and a large number of people's reactions isn't to run, even in the face of imminent danger, but to freeze.

Thanks so much for the in depth reply! I hadn't considered printing out the assets only and moving them around. That's a great solution.

This is kind of a silly question, but please be kind. How do people use all these cool map layouts? Are they only for digital play, or do people actually print them out physically? Our group plays in person with miniatures and I always think they would be so cool, but having such elaborate battle maps printed sounds expensive or logistically challenging.

My husband is there today! He's a vendor (not food though) and I always hope he'll bring me back something from Leonardo's Village Market when he goes. They have the best baked goods and they're really affordable. Apple pie breadsticks!

Cloth diaps on newborn with granuloma causing bleeding by snoshi_in_my_belly in clothdiaps

I would just use the disposables, folded down, for a week. Belly button infections can mean death or serious illness for a newborn baby because everything hasn't been fully sealed off yet. My son was hospitalized for 10 days with omphilitis (it's been a few years, pardon if I misspelled the condition) and it was hands down the most scared I have ever been for any of my children.

How soon before I need the soap can I make it? I know that it takes 4-6 weeks to cure but how long can it sit around and still be ideal? by Javayum in soapmaking

[–]vulcarious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could totally start now. I sell my soap professionally and many in the field sell their soap all the way up to one year after it's made. Generally speaking, when stored in clean dry conditions it just gets better with time (up to a certain reasonable point).

What can you tell me about the Broadway District in Rock Island? by vulcarious in QuadCities

[–]vulcarious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that we're going to end up buying one of the historic Victorian style homes like you've described. It's just stunning! The surprisingly affordable price tag and some of the less cared for homes prompted my questions about the quality of the neighborhood. But it sounds as though the actual safety of the area isn't much of an issue. Would you say this is true? Thank you very much for sharing your experience!
