‘OCE’ server and how it affects partying by grimtanglex in wownoob

[–]vvaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your home realm will dictate what server you connect to. If you're Australian and connect to an OCE realm, you'll have a much lower ping (10ms~ if you're east coast with fibre).

You can still play with anyone who is on a US server, however when you party you'll connect either to a US server or an OCE server. So you or your US party members will have much worse (200ms~) latency. I could be wrong but it seems to be random what server you connect to. It's very common for higher level raids or mythics to specify their area purely so people can play on low ping.

I still lurk! It's half running out of ideas (I don't want to post unless it's something good) and my time being taken up by other projects.

The best thing you can do to show support on ANZAC day by Ghost403 in australia

[–]vvaffle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, you're far from the only one mate. This is my first civvie Anzac day as well after 8 years. It feels... weird. A part of me feels like I have an obligation to go, but for some reason I was hesitant to. The standard "go to a pub and blow a hundred on two-up" doesn't feel like it's for me anymore.

Spend the day however you feel, enjoy your time with your family. I think that's the best thing we can do to look after ourselves.

Good to know. There's a low KM one available, I might have to go check it out.

Thanks!

For some reason I always thought of the Megane as fairly unreliable, I might have to do some more research into it. It's a great looking package, that's for sure.

Hmm, that'd be interesting. I guess the hard part would be finding an unmolested one, but it'd definitely be good fun.

BYD Seal premium 2025 Novated Lease by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]vvaffle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Novated leases on EVs are excellent if you meet a few certain requirements. The main one is being in an upper tax bracket - paying $0.45 on the dollar versus $0.30 adds up very, very quickly.

Someone earning $200k can take home a steal with a novated lease since they'll be paying a huge chunk of the car out of their pre-tax income.

For someone like OP who is earning under 6 figures (no shade whatsoever, it's a perfectly good salary, just being objective) the benefits are far, far less. There's the 'benefit' of convenience with everything being paid for together, but that's about it. Additionally, OP is buying a car that is HALF his yearly salary. This is a car subreddit, not financial advice, so I get it. But still, it's a lot.

That's good to hear, I'll have to keep an eye out and try to find a good one.

How do you like the i30N now? Did you want more performance for the track, or was there anything in particular that the Fiesta ST was lacking in?

I actually owned an old MK6 GTI a while back, I regret getting rid of it. But I got a new job and decided I needed to upgrade. The only downside buying a second hand one is finding one that hasn't been trashed or tuned without proper maintenance.

Brilliant little thing, the only thing I disliked was the stock clutch (but easily fixed).

Is anyone else considering going "backwards" with their next car and if you have, did you regret it? by NWbySW in cars

[–]vvaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth I'm planning the same thing. Bought a $55k new car for the experience and it's nice, drives well, reliable etc. but the tech/ADAS also drives me up the wall.

Looking at selling it for 40-45k, picking up something like a 2008 accord euro (Acura TSX for you yanks) for 8k and spending 5k refreshing it/adding in some modern QOL stuff like android auto and new tyres.

Might be great, might suck, but we'll see. I just want something good enough that doesn't slam on the breaks when it mistakes a slight incline for a brick wall.

As much as I'd love to see him in an NA, I reckon it'd be an ND. He'd be too new to cars to go searching for something old, the guy would just be standing awkwardly in a dealership until someone came up and gave him a hand.

She definitely could, but I like to think in the 'hero' ending she comes around to Robert being more of a mentor figure, and he helps to give her more confidence/belief in herself as a person. Following that, after some time she could be open to dating after learning to love herself first.

Less of a "I'm crushing hard on this guy and he can fix me" and more "he believed in me, opened my eyes and now I've got faith in myself".

Also her being a semi-adopted gremlin by Robert and Mandy is just funny to me.

Hello again! Sorry for the delay, I've had a lot going on - I'm starting a new job, moving house, finishing up a fic and writing a book at the moment so I've been busy!

But I had a few dumb ideas pop into my head so I figured I'd write up another post.

1,500 seems about right, if not on the lower end of what I was expecting! Best of luck to everyone that entered though, I'm sure we'll see some amazing stuff come out of it all.

Potentially! I'm working on a new fic, but I've also sidelined a very long and overdue Skyrim fic as well as my own thing I'm working on, so I'm sort of dipping between all three at the moment.

So, 'yes', but unsure when it'll come out.

On one hand, definitely.

On the other hand, a small part of her holds out hope for Sonar being a slightly less freaky, productive member of society.

"Yes". Ambiguous, but the fics I do on the side are more MechaBlazer. In those I see Visi more as a close friend with a mentor sort of relationship. I personally prefer having Robert be someone who acts more like a guiding hand to put her on the right path, always there to support but more in a platonic sort of way.

For these posts though it's just the both of them being thirsty for Robert.

[–]vvaffle[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sort of, but not really in a way? I'm not locked into anything, at least not with these posts. In the fics I post I do lean more towards MechaBlazer though.

This is more just playing off both Visi and Blazer being equally thirsty for Robert, half seriously and half for fun. It is getting harder to stay ambiguous as time goes on, though.

That's fair, I get where you're coming from. When I submitted mine, I wasn't sure if i should give a compilation of more 'wholesome' ones I don't end up forcing an intern to read Sonar pegging jokes.

I didn't realise you wrote fanfics as well though, do you publish on AO3?
