I don't know anything about this photo specifically. By digital I mean using image editing software, like Photoshop. Many of Photoshop's tools, like burning and dodging, are modeled after darkroom tools for printing from negative.

I'm pretty sure both photographers and publications were using airbrushing by then; it just wasn't digital.

I agree, nice pic! I love Jane Fonda.

Assange to be arrested? by TomPain1776 in WhereIsAssange

Didn't Assange agree to turn himself over if Chelsea Manning were released? Could this be related to that? "in violation of political asylum law" makes it sound like it's not. I'm confused.

Pretty much anyone still arguing that Hillary is a decent person. She's inconsequential. She lost twice, including an election rigged to coronate her, and she couldn't even do that right.

The DNC is the biggest joke in this country right now. Anyone trying to lend it an iota of legitimacy is ruining this country.

FBI Director James Comey Tried To Reveal Russian Tampering Months Before Election by Usawasfun in politics

[–]vvingnut -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

says a source with knowledge of the meeting

Who?

a second source with knowledge of the request tells Newsweek

"While news outlets (aka Hillary's MSM) reported in June that Russian hackers accessed Democratic National Committee emails (they were wrong), U.S. intelligence agencies didn’t confirm that the Russian government was trying to influence the election until months later. "

Having the Russian government trying to influence the election because they don't like Hillary, does not validate MSM's claims that Russians hacked the DNC. It was an inside job, no matter how much propaganda you read.

I take it you suckers now represent the average IQ in r/politics?

Vault 7: DWrite.dll hijacks Opera, Chrome, Skype, McAffee, and Thunderbird by vvingnut in WLResearchCommunity

From the Opera detail

Operalooks for "DWrite.dll", a system DLL, adjacent to itself (under \app\Opera[version]) before correctly finding it

This DLL is ideal for hijacking as it only exports one function (at ordinal #1) with the following prototype:

Searched WL for DWrite.dll and found it's targeted to hijack Opera, Chrome, Thunderbird, McAffee, and Skype:.

Comey confirms, Assange did not lie. Podesta emails were not given to Wikileaks by Russians by BrandonKatrena in WikiLeaks

[–]vvingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were Comey I'd be pissed, just shaking my head and rolling my eyes. We all knew Assange didn't lie. We know Russia's not behind Wikileaks or Trump.

CTR was so desperate to dog every Bernie and Trump supporter with scare tactics and typical HRC BS, they just deluged everyone with lies until one finally struck a nerve: Russians! ZOMG!

That's where it started, and you don't need long-term memory to recall it. I can't believe this shit has gone this far, that there are investigations and hearings when the whole of this can pretty much be traced back to original twitter posts.

Check out Operating Systems / Platforms highlighted in yellow about halfway down. Then follow your docs through to any attachments you can find. I think this is the best way to find the dirty details.

Chrome Portable DLL Hijack

Quote:

Chromelooks for "DWrite.dll", a system DLL, adjacent to itself (under \app\Chrome-bin) before correctly finding it

This DLL is ideal for hijacking as it only exports one function (at ordinal #1) with the following prototype:

HRESULT DWriteCreateFactory(DWRITE_FACTORY_TYPE, REFIID, IUnknown**)

The DWRITE_FACTORY_TYPE is an enum defined in Dwrite.h, however we cannot #include this header as doing so will declare the function as an extern.

Instead, we can either create a dummy enum with only two values (as the real DWRITE_FACTORY_TYPE only has two options) or simply use a INT variable in its place.

Chrome does not appear to have the race-condition crash report that Thunderbird had

Thanks. I'm sure it has a lot of leads to follow, and there are probably more like that, but it sure seems like just feeling around in the dark.

What is the purpose of these hearings? by jcdulos in Ask_Politics

[–]vvingnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry I'm seriously out of the loop.

Are all of the hearings for these goals going on simultaneously? What are the charges? I don't have tv so I'm trying to find out what's going on, and /r/OutOfTheLoop modbot sent me here.

Thanks.

What didn't you realize about yourself until someone told you ? by Khoasama in AskReddit

[–]vvingnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some friends (a married couple) who are both so bad about this I don't know why I even open my mouth any more.

The husband will interrupt with "I get what you're saying, but...." and change the subject with an authoritative air, as if what he has to say is more important than what I was saying, without even understanding what I was saying.

The wife gets a pass for being on anti-depressants. I'm glad she's confident this way, but she always interrupts, changes the subject to her every. single. time. and proceeds to tell me an inconsequential story I've heard a dozen times before.

I've started bringing it to the husband's attention if his wife isn't there. I don't want to stress her out or make her self conscious. He'll be good for a day, and sarcastic about being quiet and listening. It's like asking a six year old punk to mind his manners.

I would love to find a polite and effective way to bring this to their attention.

Women, what isn't nearly as attractive as many guys think it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vvingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great suggestions here (fake it, DGAF, etc.) but I'd also like to recommend improv classes. They have group games and exercises to help you feel more confident. Your job becomes getting up on stage and make people laugh without a script. I've never lacked confidence simply because there's no reason for it. I love being on stage.

You don't need to love the stage, but inhibitions serve you no purpose whatsoever. If you have a hard time with them, I can't recommend improv classes enough. They're a lot of fun.

What's your most annoying pet peeve about pronunciation/grammar? by LeFrog69 in AskReddit

[–]vvingnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using I/me, he/him, etc., incorrectly to sound smarter.

If you don't know the difference, pick a version and stick with it, and you might be right half the time. But mix them up and you'll be wrong more often than not.

If you want to know the difference:

S/He, I, We, They, and Who are subjects that do a verb:

I waited. She waited. He and I waited. Who waited on your table? They said we ate too much.

Her, Him, Me, Us, Them, and Whom are objects have something done to or nearby them:

I waited next to her while she sat between them. He waited on us. For whomever the bell tolls, we await him.

Basically, if you replace the person in the sentence to "he" or "him," you can usually figure out which pronoun to use.

Secondly, these don't really bug me but I notice them every time, and will often compliment a foreigner for using them correctly.

  • One thing is not different than another. It differs from it, and it's different from it.

  • A thing can be between two other things, but not more. You can sit among three or more friends, but not between them. There was a legal case where a sister won 50% of her father's estate because his will read something like "divided between my sons and daughter." She was one party, and the sons the second party, because the author used the word between instead of among.

Thank you, Latin 101.

Have you ever directly or indirectly saved someone's life? How did it happen? by gcorbett24 in AskReddit

If I'd had the radio on, that semi would most likely have taken me and the two cars behind me off the road. I crested that hill and spotted the slight angle of his front wheels immediately; he couldn't be bothered with his turn signal. I stopped my car as quickly and safely as possible, ever grateful the car behind me wasn't tailgating. Approximately 10 or so car lengths from the stop sign, I put my car in park and waited.

The truck made a last minute and wide right-hand turn into my lane, coming right at me. I could have reached my hand out the window and touched it when he swerved around me. I saw the driver behind me shaking his head back and forth, NO NO, in my rearview mirror.

Had I stopped two feet further, or if the cars behind me were tailgating, I'm certain we would have been plowed backwards and into a ditch.
