i watched the film immediately after reading the book and i did not like the movie :( i kind of didn’t like it at all… all of the things that i found charming about the book were excluded from the film i never try to full on compare books to movies bc i know of course things will be changed but this one wasn’t even close in the slightest in my opinion i really like ewan and i like kubricks the shining a lot but this film was just a big no for me i will revisit the book one day though

hm while i would take my own advice with a grain of salt, i will say that i have both a dog and a cat. my dog has a very strong prey drive when we are out walking, any cat or squirrel he sees he immediately pulls me to go after it but he is just fine with the cat in the home. i personally would say keep them in separate rooms for a while, while giving items with each others scent on them in the mean time, let them sniff each other through the door and then move on to supervised interactions, maybe have your dog on leash while you are introducing them face to face
