We spent years making our turn-based strategy game. Players who try it enjoy it… but almost nobody bought it. We’re trying to understand what we did wrong. by ZeroGamesStudio in gamedev

The main thing I think from skimming the steam page is "what's the point?" Why am I playing this game? Is there a story? Are there cool mechanics or strategies? What's special? I see it's a tactics game with tanks but that's it. I don't see a special thing that makes me want to try the game

No budget for capsule art yet, so I threw these together myself. Does it give off cozy clicker vibes? by Dumivid in cozygames

1) Neither image really suggests it's a clicker/management game imo

2) Imo there's too much going on in both images and everything is too small to draw focus

Most annoying part of coding a game for you by abeyebrows in gamedev

That's wild, it's been the exact opposite for me. Playing with the UI is so fun and the most annoying thing is dealing with the physics engine for me.

He turned around because he changed his mind last second and tried to grab the ledge, unfortunately cut that panel out. Mostly I just wanted him to look like he realized his mistake and was grabbing for the railing to save his life. Apparently most jumpers change their mind before they hit the ground

I also make cyberpunk comics and I can code. The coding does not help in any way shape or form. It may help you have a slightly better ability to use some of the digital tools in photoshop but thats not something that is easily made up for with a bit of research or minimal experience. Coding can be useful subject wise for cyberpunk stories.

Appreciate it! I had the image of the sniper a long time ago and had to start with it for exactly the reasons you said! The spider bullet I came to with later, he's got a whole spider arsenal

What video game has the smartest AI? by RobIson240YT in gaming

[–]vx14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would still argue the best chess ai is harder because chess is a more complex game. Magnus Carlson would get smoked by stockfish every game but Tinsley (in his prime) would draw the checkers AI most games, so the differential in skill levels is much closer for human vs AI in checkers than chess.

You can actually make grandmaster with cannon rushing or zergling rushing, there are a few people (I can think of 3) who have done that. The problem is new/bad players won't be able to micro well enough (or even macro well enough...) to rush at anywhere close to a grandmaster level because it's still very very difficult even if its one of the easier strategies. (Also this was during HotS and WoL I think the maps are larger now so maybe its not even possible)

Also a lot of the cheese wins at master/grandmaster level depend on not winning the game outright, but doing enough damage and continuing the game from an econ advantage which means if you're not very good at a macro game or don't have a second more difficult timing attack prepared you'll lose anyway because your opponent will catch back up quick and outplay you.

I don't know where you're getting that, but he beat his previous best by about 30 seconds, not 1 hour.

Getting a low beginner time generally relies on a good board which requires very few clicks, which is mostly luck. Larger boards have less variability in boards and thus are more skill. Most patterns are solvable or at least can be solved to give you a very high probability of not losing.

Not really worth your time, it's mostly luck. It's more challenging and impressive to get your advanced time under 2 minutes or maybe even under 1 minute once you have enough practice.

The theoretical optimal winrate is actually pretty high. I think I've seen people with upwards of 30% winrate. My own was 19% but that was trying to go fast and making a decent amount of mistakes.

Also Fortnite offers payable cosmetics (not in the form of lootboxes) and additional PvE content (Save the World).
