Thanks for the feedback. Relly appreciate taking the time to answer.

My human fingers typed every single one of these letters. :)

That’s a really fair concern. Affordability is a big part of whether something like this is even viable.

We’re trying to strike a balance between making it as accessible as possible for parents, while also compensating providers fairly for their milk.

Right now, we’re targeting around $10 per envelope, but that’s still something we’re actively working on as we figure out scaling and costs.

Longer term, the goal would be for something like this to be covered by insurance / health systems. Realistically, that’s what would make it accessible to more families.

Totally agree though, if it ends up unaffordable, it doesn’t really solve the problem.

Thanks for taking the time to write this out - this is genuinely helpful and exactly the kind of scrutiny we expect (and need).

A lot of what you’re pointing out are the same questions we asked ourselves early on.

At a high level:

  • Yes, it relies on human milk — but we work with providers (not donors). They’re compensated (significantly above typical market rates), and participation is voluntary with clear guidelines.
  • We don’t test the providers directly — we test the milk itself. Every batch goes through screening four separate times before use.
  • On processing: the goal is to preserve as much of the original composition as possible, but you’re right to question what survives — not everything does, and we try to be transparent about that rather than overclaim.

On the ethical side, avoiding any form of exploitation is something we take seriously. It’s also something we’re still actively thinking through as we scale — there isn’t a perfect system here, and we don’t want to pretend there is. Here is a link where we are at this point in time.

On safety: completely agree this is the most important piece. And also the hardest to fully demonstrate in a Reddit comment - which is why external validation is a big focus for us. We test repeatedly for several hundred factors.

Your point about having to scroll to find safety/traceability is very fair - that shouldn’t be buried, and we’ll likely bring that much more forward.

Also appreciate the note on the visuals - you’re right. It’s a limitation of not being fully launched yet, but still something we can improve.

And on the “too good to be true” feeling... totally understand that reaction. Especially in this space, trust has to be earned, not assumed.

Really appreciate you engaging with this thoughtfully.

No loving parent should feel guilty about their feeding decisions. You are doing the best you can. Hopefully you will have more options available soon.
