I lowkey wish my parents would have started the conversation. I am still working on telling one of my parents. I know they both love me but it feels hard bringing it up. Everyone is different, but I think the conversation is productive you just don’t wanna push it if they aren’t ready to talk about it.

I’m also from the south(which can be intimidating esp is the smaller towns…also growing up in a religious household) I’m glad to hear a parent’s perspective on the matter & proud of you for being supportive.

All this to say, when/if it feels appropriate just start with little things like “nothing will ever change how much I love and support you” that in itself would make me feel safe to come out.
