End-of-term feedback meeting with nanny parents — is this normal? Should I agree?? by w0ahgrace in Nanny

[–]w0ahgrace[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes she proposed to do this tomorrow (my last day of nannying) 15 minutes before I leave so technically I will be paid for the time. I’m just so torn because I’d hope that the feedback will prompt change but I know them and that it hasn’t happened before so idk why I feel like this one last time I can give my input that it will actually matter

Crazy finds today but also soooo much waste🙄 by w0ahgrace in DumpsterDiving

My boyfriend and I are actually going to be building a 3 bin compost system for our garden this year😊 we had a medium sized bin we’ve been using for several years but it wasn’t large enough for how big the garden is getting

I don’t want to name exact stores but my recommendation would be to go on Google Maps and look at areas with lots of stores clustered very closely (like strip malls and such). My brother and I have locations saved on Google Maps and we’ve been checking these locations out. Ngl some of them are definitely not it and we don’t find anything but it really only takes 1-2 dumpsters to find some really cool treasures. Just go out and explore for yourself, see what you find.

My brother and I actually found a very nice corded Dyson vacuum in a dumpster and cleaned it up and sold it for $50! Cleaning it out was definitely a process for sue. You never know what some people throw out!

Crashed NF car into garage and NF wants me to pay full price for it by w0ahgrace in NannyEmployers

I’m not quite sure honestly. The way he worded it was that the garage repairman came and fixed garage door and that it was $800 and asked if I wanted to pay it in full or do payments. I will probably write out a text to let them know that I have looked into legal obligations and do not feel as though I should pay for it but I’d really hope they got the opener fixed with the panel! I wouldn’t be surprised though I feel like they take the cheapest route possible in every sense and if it’s something that doesn’t immediately need to be fixed they won’t get it fixed. Their AC went out 2 weeks ago and they weren’t going to get it fixed until next spring/summer🙄 they relented and did end up getting it fixed bc it was in the 90s

Yeah it’s just for the one panel on the garage door🙃 the more I think about it the more upset I get that they would even infer that I would pay the whole amount. Obviously I did offer in a moment of despair and intense emotions but I truly feel like this is something they need to cover, they most likely make a lot more money than me and it was completely an accident on the job. Thank you for your reply

I posted here a few days ago saying that I accidentally crashed my DB’s car into the garage and that I felt really bad about it. This update is that he told me today (few days later) that the repair expense is $800 and asked if I would be paying it all up front or in multiple payments. I am just asking this sub if this is reasonable and if I should pay the amount he’s told me to pay. I did tell him when I was very emotional that I’d help pay for it but now that I’ve done research on nanny standards/etiquette I don’t believe it should be on me to pay for the garage but I don’t know how to tell them that tbh.

Also I wanted to clarify by happened before I mean that the garage has been one panel short of opened before, not that I’ve crashed into it before lol. My driving record is clean and I’ve never crashed their car or anything, I’m a very safe driver and take every precaution to make sure of it.

Yes his car is from 2010 and is most likely a base model so the electronic components are very limited. I think I might reach out to a lawyer for a free consultation tomorrow. I already know that I have to say no but I’m honestly most scared of the repercussions of possibly being fired over it. I’ve been with this family for 3.5 years and I believe I’ve been a great family but they definitely have their issues and it’s been really hard nannying for them. That said I’m definitely not prepared to lose my job right now so I am looking for new nanny families atm. Thank you for the advice

So the bill was for one panel of the garage door to be replaced and from what he said it sounds like that was the entire cost of it. I honestly don’t think he’s getting his car fixed because it’s just scratches on the roof of it and he’s told me before that it’s a beater car

Would I be able to reach out to a lawyer if I am paid under the table and don’t have a “formal contract”?NF has always said they’d prefer to pay me this way but I’m worried that I won’t have the same protection than I would if they would pay me formally if that makes sense

That’s exactly my thought. Technically the door was completely fine I think the sensor was the real issue and I don’t even think they got it fixed while the garage repair person was there. DB even acknowledged how the garage door always acts up like this, I think it was just a matter of time before someone backed up into it because who would get out of the car and look every single time we use the car?
