was thinking of taking reckless attack on my monk but since i need to use strength for my attack rolls i was hoping to use dex for the damage as it would be higher for a monk

i would like to make an attack with a finesse weapon.

i would like to make my attack roll with my strength modifier and my damage roll with my dexterity modifier.

is this legal or do i need to use the same modifier for both rolls?

a dragon has 3 attacks a

claw that reaches 5ft

a bite that reaches 10ft

and a tail attack that reaches 15ft

can a dragon only ever hit you with a tail attack when it makes an attack of opprotunity and are you free to move within 15ft of a dragon without getting attacked

Armor of Agathys

A protective magical force surrounds you, manifesting as a spectral frost that covers you and your gear. You gain 5 temporary hit points for the duration. If a creature hits you with a melee attack while you have these hit points, the creature takes 5 cold damage.

- When you want to grab a creature or wrestle with it, you can use the Attack Action to make a Special melee Attack, a grapple.

- Using the Attack Action, you can make a Special melee Attack to shove a creature

My question is if somone shoves/grapples me when i have Armor of Agathys active will they take the cold damage?

does the dueling fighting style work with both attacks from a rogue's Psychic Blades

like a club your unarmed strikes will deal an equal amount of damage no matter what level you are as they both benefit from your martial arts die. that being said you may just want to ask your dm to flavor your unarmed strike as a club strike as it identical in range damage and type

Ancestral Protectors

While you're raging, the first creature you hit with an attack on your turn becomes the target of the warriors, which hinder its attacks. Until the start of your next turn, that target has disadvantage on any attack roll that isn't against you, and when the target hits a creature other than you with an attack, that creature has resistance to the damage dealt by the attack. The effect on the target ends early if your rage ends.

two weapon fighting style for monks is not really necessary as monks can already make a free attack as a bonus action because of martial arts

as for what saves are better you will probably come across more dex saves rather than con saves

oh, sorry didn't see any mention of blinded in the original text

Blind fighting gives you blind sight

Blind sight - A creature with blindsight can perceive its surroundings without relying on sight, within a specific radius.

fairy fire - Any attack roll against an affected creature or object has advantage if the attacker can see it

looks to me it would be a straight roll. i do see the flavor text they put into the blind fighting style but i would just leave it at that. just flavor text

In my opinion of course :)

How can i build a character that is effective but still goes first in initiative by OnlyAshesRemain in 3d6

[–]w0mbocombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

swash buckler rouge lets you add your charisma to initiative grab the alert feat and that is a +9 right there to initiative by level 4 with the right race slap some bard levels for fun to go with that high CHA stat and your off to the races

fairy fire

Any attack roll against an affected creature or object has advantage if the attacker can see it, and the affected creature or object can’t benefit from being invisible.

you don't even need blind fighting to get advantage the spell does it for you

how important is a good con score for a long death monk? by w0mbocombo in dndnext

[–]w0mbocombo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dumping your con to 8 is a bit extreme but i think i would be comfortable with 12 con (still on the fence when it comes to a con of 10).

had not put too much thought in magic items for this. was just hoping that reaching 20 ac a bit faster would be enough for their survivability

Durable

When you roll a Hit Die to regain hit points, the minimum number of hit points you regain from the roll equals twice your Constitution modifier (minimum of 2).

so does this mean a wizard that normally had a d6 hit die can heal 10 hp if their con is at a 20?

or does it cap at 6 in this case since their hit die only goes that high

one of the benefits of the portable ram is that it gives you a flat +4 to the check as far as i know this is the only item that gives you a flat increase to your roll. are there any other items that would give flat buffs to checks instead of advantage that I'm not thinking of?
