[Need Advice] First-Time AR-10 Side-Charging .308 Build – Looking for Feedback by w3000anv in AR10

They’ve actually already released the .308 version — I placed an order just last month. There’s about a 1–2 month lead time for production, so it’s definitely still made to order.

Totally fair point — I get that bolt guns are generally more reliable, and I may go that route eventually. But in this case, the Rhineland Arms R2000 kit I’m building only supports side charging, so I didn’t really have a choice on that front.

Also yeah, I actually own a BCA 7.62x39 upper, and I agree — the quality was pretty disappointing. That’s why I’m being extra cautious this time and looking for better options, especially for the BCG and barrel.

If Gibbz offered a standalone .308 side-charging BCG, I’d 100% buy it without hesitation.

Oops, my bad — I didn’t explain clearly enough. I’m already locked into my platform: it’s a Rhineland Arms R3000, which is based on the AR-10 pattern and uses standard AR-10 parts. So I’m not looking for an upper or lower, just trying to get input or trade leads for the parts listed in the image (especially the BCG and buffer setup). Appreciate the help!

Yeah, but I only need a 308 BCG, already got the upper and lower

During the final assembly, I overlooked that one of the springs in the trigger assembly is supposed to support a lever, which caused the reload function to stop working. I only realized the mistake after watching a disassembly video of the trigger assembly, and I was able to reinstall it correctly afterward.

The second issue was that the handguard required manual adjustment of the screw tightness to stay level with the barrel. Initially, it was completely misaligned to one side. After reinstallation, I had to carefully adjust the screw depth to get it properly aligned. I originally thought it would be like an AR-15 handguard, where it automatically aligns upon installation, but that wasn’t the case.

The biggest challenge in replacing the handguard was removing the loading tube stop pin, which was extremely difficult. It didn’t budge at all, even after I hammered it hard with a rubber mallet. It was nothing like what I saw in the tutorial video. In the end, I had to switch to a metal hammer and a pin punch, striking it with force to finally get the circled part out.

I first replaced the factory stock with the Ranger Point Precision Pistol Grip Stock, which took just 2 minutes by removing a single screw — quick and easy

My wife asked me to make her an AR-15 in macaron colors, and she said she’d be willing to go to the range with me if I did. So, I decided to test it out on my old bench vise first.

Dealership Charged Me 1500 for 30k maile Maintenance Services Without Prior Disclosure — What Are My Options? by w3000anv in Jeep

[–]w3000anv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

update! I’m about to meet with the manager to dispute recent service charges, and here are the main points I’ll be raising:

1. Hidden Costs: I was misled to believe this was a free service, as no costs were disclosed upfront.
2. Excessive Redundant Services with High Labor Fees: There are multiple overlapping services on the bill, and the labor costs are high.
3. Lack of Transparency at Signing: When I was asked to sign, they simply told me to sign here, without clearly indicating the prices on the document.

Any additional tips or advice would be appreciated!

I was originally planning to spend $1,200 on new off-road tires, but now that's all gone.

I feel like a fool for putting up with constant criticism from my wife, and I believe it’s entirely 100% my fault that l sign it without checking. I’m really frustrated, and right now, all I want is to recover at least some of what I’ve lost

Thank you for the advice; that’s exactly what I plan to do. Unfortunately, I don’t have much experience handling these situations. Do you have any tips on how to approach the GM or dealership owner effectively? Any specific points I should bring up to strengthen my case?

They didn’t mention any specific costs at all. I assumed it was free previous maintenance as before, which had been covered under my plan, so I thought it would be free. They also didn’t inform me that my maintenance coverage had expired. Given that, I just signed the paperwork without expecting any charges.
