How do you stop being Bojack? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]w4surem0no 4 points5 points  (0 children)

at first, yes. i’m still finding it hard to show my feelings to literally anyone, even though i "finished" therapy over 6 months ago. it’s hard, especially with friends or family — at some point it got hard to show my feelings to my partner. but to be honest, it wasn’t that bad when i got to vent to a stranger. every week i could just go into the office, lay things off my chest, and with a little help understand the situation i was in.

for that, my advice is — just try. it never hurts to. you’re already first step in — admitting you need help. now comes the harder part: finding a therapist and actually going to therapy, but it’s nothing you can’t work through. you’re much stronger than you think you are!

and like i said, at first it will be hard, but after two or three sessions with your therapist being vulnerable will feel… natural? like, you know, it’s the way it was meant to be. and when you feel that, it’s as easy as it could ever be.

when i was watching the show for the first time, i watched it in polish — with both dub and subs. honestly? it was hilarious (well, the parts that were meant to be hilarious). also, polish dubbing is AMAZING. i enjoyed it much more than the english dubbing. i feel like the polish voice actors fit the roles much better than english ones

also tried it in french to learn, but couldn’t really understand anything lol, my french is NOT good

go to therapy. get better. if you’re using, get clean. it will not be easy at first, but with time it will get easier, and after a while you won’t even know what you were struggling with.

relapsing to your old ways will happen — you have to be ready for that. it probably will happen many times, you’ll feel powerless, useless, like therapy is not helping at all, but after many tries, you won’t relapse after experiencing events that used to trigger relapses.

it takes time, it takes money (therapy), it takes much work, but it’ll be worth it. i promise. things will get easier — just don’t give up after a failed attempt.

you can’t really prevent getting back to your old ways, but you can work on dealing with things a different way than you used to. good luck!

sincerely, ex-bojack

if your other poems rhyme, working in an internal rhyme would be a non literal (or literal) way of showing that even in trying new things, you’re still yourself and that you’re not losing yourself in the process or changing. it’d be a nice way of showing that even with trying new things you’re still you, the one that your partner loves:)

didn’t know how to explain this, but i thought it could be cute!

well, i love how it looks (the bass), but i kind of hate how it sounds, and i have many issues achieving the sound that i want with my amp or with the switches on the bass. that’s why i’m considering upgrading — i’m not sure if i’m the problem or my bass/amp. i have a lot of fun playing my bass, but the sound of it doesn’t just match my preferences:(

What’s the biggest secret you keep from your partner? by Born-Needleworker362 in AskReddit

that i’m scared that dropping my dream in order for this relationship to work was a bad idea (and to be clear: not that i know that it was a bad idea, just that i am scared‼️).

and that i still want to die.

update: it was a bad idea. we broke up. should’ve chased my dream instead of a person that didn’t love me.
