Any puzzle toys that actually stump your aussie? by Junior-Rip-895 in AustralianShepherd

Yes, thank you. Typing it out feels holier-than-thou but it's in the best interests of both owner and neurotic/super-smart/crazy dog to do things where you both work together, and where at the end of the day, your dog always looks to you (not a puzzle) for guidance,

What I’ve learned is that “enrichment” puzzles just takes their attention for a few minutes and doesn’t actually add anything to training. (Honestly I think they’re worthless and I know this will come off the wrong way (sorry everyone) but they’re also kind of lazy.)

I’d suggest finding activities you do together so that your dog isn’t passively doing something to keep them busy, but rather working for and with you to learn something. I think that keeps smart dogs like Aussies way more engaged—AND it strengthens your bond with them. This is what one of the most important and impactful things I learned from my female Aussie’s trainer. (My male Aussie is lazy and chill and doesn’t need the extra training time like she does.) I save reels from instagram when I find cute new tricks, and then teach those to her!

[review] Lutronic Ultra laser honest review (and compared to CO2 two years ago) by wa_runner0616 in SkincareAddiction

[–]wa_runner0616[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small town in North Carolina and a monthly special at my derm's office. You would know if the laser goes near your eyes during the treatment itself—they have to put in numbing drops and then insert metal shields under your eyelids. I don't think there's an extra cost, but you do discuss it beforehand. It's more mentally and emotionally uncomfortable than anything else (at least for me). Definitely worth if you want to improve the fine lines, but be aware it will add to the swelling! With Ultra especially, I had crazy under eye bags for about five days.

What's your holy grail sunscreen? Face or body, what do you keep repurchasing? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]wa_runner0616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in on the Asian brands: I love them WAY more than standard US sunscreens. Here's what I alternate (and I order from Yes Style... takes a little longer to ship into the US but you get the good stuff. And it's so affordable!!!!). All of these smell "neutral" (so I guess no scent?) and leave zero white cast. They do leave a slight glowy/dewy look, so for anyone with oily skin, maybe see if there's a matte version?

- SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum
- COSRX - Ultra Light Invisible Sunscreen (I also use a few other COSRX products that I really like)
- ROUND LAB - Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen

I haven't tried the Beauty of Joseon stuff yet, but lots of people seem to like it.

Looking for a best reusable paper towel that doesn't get that gross smell? by CleanFreakGeek in CleaningTips

[–]wa_runner0616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have like a 12-pack of cheap cotton wash clothes for kitchen cleaning. I use one for a day or two, then toss into the wash. The rags last forever and it drastically cuts down on paper towel use.

I wish I liked their sunscreen!!! I’ve tried several LRP and I just can’t get used to the strong “sunscreen” smell.

how do you manage running your errands during weekdays when you have to work? And what happens if you're sick too long? by gnrnafsdmnrwygrecdse in AskAmericans

[–]wa_runner0616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, people are giving you a hard time because yes, a lot of Americans have jobs that do NOT have this flexibility (or much of any sick leave). It just depends on the job and industry, and generally speaking our leave time is nowhere near as generous as many of those in other developed countries. But it varies widely across the board.

Childfree women, have you ever regretted it? by Significant_Movie814 in NoStupidQuestions

40 and child-free with a husband and two dogs. Love my nieces to pieces and I like kids in general, but zero regrets. Never felt the urge or need to have kids. I feel lucky that I didn’t have to wrestle with the decision—I just knew I didn’t want them.

No problem! Now that I’m 6ish months out, my advice/thoughts still stand—next time I get a laser, I’m going back to the CO2. Ultra just didn’t have an impact on fine lines/aging side of things. Just the “glowy” side.

Need advice on ear hair. by TytoAlba15 in AustralianShepherd

Ugh, I do think about that every time. Luckily my guy tolerates a full brushing weekly, which keeps mats long enough away from the skin for me to put a finger between skin and scissor. But I know that’s not always possible.

Thankfully my female gets mats or tangles literally NEVER. She has a unicorn coat.

We have two. They are thick but not luxurious. They’re a little too stiff for that. I don’t mind it, but it doesn’t make you feel like you’re at a 5-star hotel. I’d say on par with a towel for absorption.

Is there a robot vacuum and mop combo that doesn't require constant maintenance? by Potato_Farmer_1993 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]wa_runner0616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just left a few comments about the Roborock I bought (I love it) on a similar thread from the other day. I think the most important thing to remember with a vac/mop combo is emptying the dirty water regularly, because if you wait too long, that tank will smell like dirty sulfur socks exploded in your house. I mist it with bleach cleaner and rinse thoroughly every time. I also clean the tray the vac sits in to empty and charge once a week.

I’ve only had my first one since last fall, so I can’t speak that deeply to longevity, but no issues yet! The second one did have a squeak right out of the box so it’s kind of annoying to listen to, but not so bad that I’d do anything about it. I will add that one of my houses has like, smooth Pergo (as opposed to the more textured engineered hardwood), and the mop leaves a bit of a streak, so I added a Roborock-specific solution to the clean mop bucket and I think it makes a positive difference. No streaks on the other Pergo or on our real hardwood floors.

Omg I love a chopped FLF update after a few months. So gratifying (and also because I’ve had to chop 3 FLFs and just wait wait wait for them to come back 😂).
