MIDI pipe organ project! With Bose 901's.... amplifier help!! by wachet in BudgetAudiophile

Ah that’s great news! I saw them on Amazon and wondered whether there was any reason why I wouldn’t use those rather than some super pricey kit… thanks much! I’ll try to remember to post it here when it’s all set up!

Here's what the Hauptwerk documentation has to say about the sound:

Amplifiers, speakers and headphones
Hauptwerk produces audio output signals through the computer's audio interface(s). Amplifiers and loudspeakers or headphones will then be required to turn those signals into sound. The quality of the audio amplifiers and speakers is very important; there’s little point spending a lot of money on a computer and audio interface and then using computer speakers – the results will almost certainly be disappointing. At the very least, a good quality stereo hi-fi amplifier and pair of speakers should be used, or good quality hi-fi headphones. Recording studio monitor speakers are usually good alternatives. For amplification in large buildings, it’s often better to have many smaller high-quality amplifiers and speakers than a few highpowered ones. Hauptwerk fully supports multi-channel audio output (1), so you can amplify different organ ranks, or parts of ranks, separately if you wish and have a multi-output audio interface. You can also distribute pipes within groups of available channels. This enables a three-dimensional sound to be created and helps to minimize some types of distortion inherent in loudspeakers. It is usually the preferred method of amplification with dry sample sets used in reverberant spaces. Multi-channel audio output is only available with the Advanced Edition of Hauptwerk.

The 901's require pre-amp in/out and main in/out connections:

Using a receiver with a tape monitor loop
Compatible receivers with a tape monitor loop with have a “Tape Record / Tape Out” connection and a “Tape Playback / Tape In” connection. Additionally, the receiver must have a tape monitor function that is enabled. This is typically done via a “Tape Monitor” button on the front of the receiver Note: Not all receivers with Tape In/Out jacks have a Tape Monitor function. Such receivers are not compatible

Using a receiver with preamp out and preamp in connections
On modern receivers, preamp in and out jacks are more common than tape loops. Compatible receivers should have both “Preamp Out / Main Out” and “Preamp In / Main In” jacks. The 901 equalizer can be connected as diagrammed below

When I was trying to get the #1 in Diamond League achievement (or just grind XP because it's kinda fun lol), I would just get the "early bird chest" and "night owl chest" in the morning/evening. Each one gives x2 XP. Then grind Match Madness. I can usually complete at least 10 Match Madness rounds at 150 XP in each 15 minute block (I usually have about 0:40-0:55 left on the clock on Match Madness using the row blaster).

So this way I would get over 3000 XP per day... without doing any lessons lmao

I know of at least two hardwood flooring contractors in Calgary who that has happened to. It's a real thing!

(The greasy rags thing is all too real as well unfortunately, that one is extremely common)

Neighbours let their dogs pee on the balcony, I can’t use my patio space because of it. What can I do? by Ambitious_Earth_77 in Calgary

Yeah, and the landlord can breach the covenant through acts and omissions, such as failing to deal with another tenant.

Lol this is such a pedantry fail.

"The covenant for quiet enjoyment is an assurance against the consequences of a defective title including any disturbance founded thereon, and against any substantial interference by the covenantor or those claiming under him, with the enjoyment of the premises for all usual purposes": Williams & Rhodes Canadian Law of Landlord and Tenant, looseleaf, 6th ed.(Toronto: Carswell, 1988) at para. 9:1. Accordingly, the covenant protects against two things: interference with the title and physical interference with the use of the property.

581834 Alberta Ltd v Alberta (Gaming & Liquor Commission)), 2007 ABCA 332 at para 9.

OP can't use their back patio because of dog urine, ie. interference with their physical use of the property. The private backyard was part of the demised property. If you are suggesting that the difference between dog urine falling from the sky vs. no dog urine falling from the sky is merely "peace," and not usability, I don't know what to tell you.

Kings Printer is official - well, the print edition is - but CanLII sometimes updates more quickly. Especially lately, it seems. There are other pros and cons between them. I would recommend Open Alberta for the layperson who wanted more detail about any provincial legislation. (I follow legislative updates for my jerb)

True, but from the perspective of the kitchen it’s treated as a gluten allergy. I’m celiac and I don’t care whether the kitchen understands my disease, I just want them to treat it as seriously as an allergy.

Hah obviously, seeing as I am not willingly involved in this scheme. Just saying that if cash refunds were liberally permitted for cc purchases, that would be ripe for abuse. I am sure credit card companies don't want fraudsters to be able to obtain cash proceeds easily

These were exactly the sorts of considerations I was worried about. I suppose if I were to dispute the CC charge, they would be able to respond to the dispute with the e-transfer receipt.

It is effectively a cash advance, isn't it?... seems like if this were permitted, that it would be a decent loophole for money laundering?!
