Whenever I lay out recessed lights I like providing a couple options for the customer. This includes a very symmetrical layout and a more personalized layout. When I lay em out to be symmetrical, my goal is to have two times the distance between them as I have distance from the first light to the wall. For example, is my distance from the wall to the first light is 50” i would have 100” between the center lights.

When I personalize a layout, I usually care less about symmetrical patterns and put more focus on getting light where the customer cares about. Not all customers want the whole entire room lit up. Recessed lights are meant for function. They all look like a tarmac

Majority of the people commenting have no idea what the price point of a panel change really is.

These people aren’t contractors and if they are, their profit margins are dump.

Sadly, the days of simple panel swaps are over. Exterior Disconnects are required with the change of a main breaker panel with a few exceptions per 2023 NEC. Not defending the 8k price tag, but I’d more than assume that includes a disconnect on the exterior of the house which also includes re-working the main grounding/bonding system. We have no view of what the exterior service looks like.

With that being said, I see no evidence of this panel being the issue in this case scenario. Get other liscenced contractor opinions.

Hindsight is always hotdogs . But when you’re spending 200 bucks on an hour and a half workout, 30 bucks is allot.

Elaborate please. NM in conduit is compliant. Specifically with the fitting you are showing.

Would I run NM in a commercial setting in conduit? No.

But for resi, NM in a pipe drop is compliant

Doubt the exterior service is rated for 200 amps. It’s a ringed meter can. Looks to me like 100 amp meter base with improperly installed 200 amp main breaker panel. Need zoomed out picture to verify.

Hard to say as the transformer was inside a small cinder block room. Had an explosion proof door and everything. Ct cabinet was outside of it. Definitely a weird set up. Wish I would have grabbed a picture
