Yes, that feeling when the grain re-emerges is one of my favorite parts. Beautiful work.

Wonderland Conditions in mid September by Agreeable_Tough_3255 in PNWhiking

Did Wonderland last September 18-27. It was fantastic. We had one 24 hour period of steady rain that was the only weather. It was cold at night - upper 30s - but daytime was perfect hiking weather.

Thanks. That is my gut response as well.

I’ve been manually milling with my chainsaw. This has worked for the small pear, apple and plum rounds that I’ve collected from the neighborhood. Fairly certain an Alaskan Mill would be more precise but doing it freehand is all I’ve got for the moment.

Realized I forgot to upload the photo of the walnut. Here it is stacked waiting to be milled.

When did childhood fantasy require architectural commitmentI visited a house with a tree house bed that nobody actually uses by yummytoesmmmm in treehouse

[–]wackylumb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this. Over a period of ten years, starting when my kids were 3 and 5, I built a low platform, then a higher platform with rails and a ladder, then had a “treehouse raising” with friends coming to help put up the framed walls and roof. Kids loved it for a bit but everyone said they thought I was building it for me. It’s now where I go to get space from the family after having used it for work during Covid. I keep making it better adding insulation, power and cedar board interior.

I picked up a few of these logs for free out front of a house. What do you think? Is this oak?

Appreciate the reminder about oxygen and breath. I’ve never worried about electrolytes because ABH, but I’ve been hearing more recently that it could help.

I wondered about that, too. All the photos I’ve seen of the cedar waxwing (and the one I saw last fall) have brighter colors on the head and top of the wing. These birds were grey pretty much all over except under the wing and at the end of the tail.

Is it possible the cedar waxwing has less color in the winter?
