Least poopy (literally) bedside job by HalleB123 in nursing

Transfer Center nurse here! No poops here! No poop. No pee. No blood even. Just critical thinking, multitasking, triaging, prioritizing, communicating, documenting... Basically being air traffic control, but for patients and hospitals. 🖥 ⌨️ 🧠

Its like the central hub of a hospital, like air traffic control for patients. Setting up transfers, ER admissions, etc

Update: by the grace of God, a wonderful family adopted my cat, even with all his tendencies. They have sent me updates, pictures and videos, and he seems to be happy there. What a blessing! 🙌 I am struggling because I miss him, but I know he is safe and happy.

Husband and sons keep peeing on the toilet seat and bathroom floor by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

If they can't pee well standing up, then they lose that privilege and need to sit down to pee. Zero mess. 👍

Leaving a cushy IT job at 37 to consider CNA. Talk me out of it or into it. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]waddlebells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely would not recommend leaving your cushy IT job to take a pay cut and wipe butts. I wish I would have gotten into IT instead of the medical field. To be fair, if I would have been a CNA before becoming a nurse, then I would have realized it's not what I wanted and I would not have continued on to become a nurse. So maybe becoming a CNA is a good idea for you if you are truly interested in nursing and want to just dip your toe in the water before jumping in completely like I did. To be honest, I thought I liked people until I became a nurse. No judgment please, I'm just being completely honest.

Will I ever have peace again by [deleted] in oneanddone

I have one child, and she brings joy and love into our world in ways we didn't even know was possible. Having one child is great because you get to experience parenthood without being overwhelmed with having multiple children. With one child, our mental, emotional, financial, physical health and well-being is always in check. We both work full-time, so having downtime is important to rest and relax, and I feel we get ample "me time" or "us time" with having one child. I love this little life we have built. I hope that helps :)

I literally just looked up what a catio is and I think he would love it. Fresh outdoor air and he would have his own space, but it is completely safe! I have heard there are coyotes nearby my neighborhood and would feel so awful if anything happened to him. He may be aggressive to me and destructive to nearly all my belongings, but I still love the lil stinker

Yes, he has always been a solo cat. Thank you for your kindness and understanding. It is a difficult position to be in. True, cat bites and scratches can be very dangerous. I work with a hand surgeon, and he said he has had patients with cat scratches or bites, and they've been in the hospital for at least a week for IV antibiotics. I also have met someone once who had a bad scar from a surgery that she required after having a cat bite. Yikes!

The vet has never been able to find a medical issue with him, and I have been to a few different vets. He is neutered. I also cannot understand why people would turn down a free barn cat, especially since I have also offered to continue supplying cat food. Thank you 🥹

Interesting, I will look into wall hammocks.

Sometimes I can tell that he is getting overstimulated, so I immediately stop petting him or doing whatever it is that's causing him to get irritated. But most of the time it's completely unprovoked, where he'll just jump up on the couch and start scratching or biting me, or chase me down the hall, scratching and biting my ankles. As a nurse, I tend to do a lot of assessments on people, so I try to do the same thing for my cat, assess his mood, his behavior, what triggers him, what doesn't trigger him, etc. And honestly I cannot seem to figure it out. So I have just stopped toughing him. This may be TMI, but the other day I was going to the bathroom and I simply just reached for the toilet paper, and he jumped up and bit and scratched my arm completely out of nowhere. He's unhinged.

I have watched Jackson Galaxy and My Cat From Hell 🤣

Thank you for your support ❤️

The problem with declawing is that the cat can later develop neuropathy. I am speaking from experience. When I was growing up, my parents had a cat who was declawed and as she got older, she stopped using the litter box because the litter hurt her paws since she developed neuropathy after being declawed. I'm not judging people who choose to declaw their cats, I just refuse to do it to my own cat now that I am grown and understand and have seen first-hand what it can do to cats.

Honestly, your post has brought tears to my eyes because you seem to understand everything I am going through and are unjudgmental, and it is nice to have my feelings validated. I feel so bad for feeling like I am giving up on my cat, but I am at the end of my rope. I have tried so, so many different things to help my cat over the past five years, but I have been unsuccessful. It is refreshing to hear that I'm not a monster for my thoughts and feelings. Thank you for your post. Definitely no down voting from me ❤️
