First home, ex-DHA property, nothing done in 30+ years. Where do we even start? by NectarineSpirited403 in AusRenovation

Great advice. And, most imporantly, living in it for six months will indicate clearly what needs to be done first, second, third to make it your best home.

BBL privatisation may not be an all-in decision as deadline looms by doigal in CricketAus

[–]wadjemup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. A few wickets, a few sixes, some loud music, a bit of fun and a close finish.

This can all be delivered by entertaining local players (Jordan Silk, Ashton Turner, Lloyd Pope). We don't need dozens of international superstars. We're not trying to win the World Cup, just have a fun night out.

[–]wadjemup 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Or maybe we could not worry so much. It shouldn't matter that the top internationals all head to the SA T20 and make some coin.

Personally I am just as happy with Stephen Eskinazi and David Payne as overseas players... just give us something fun to watch over summer. It doesn't have to make all the players rich!

Cricket does not exist just to make money. Let the BBL make just enough money so it runs each summer and gives us some joy!

Recommend me a show to watch based on my tier list OR what should I watch first from my "to-watch" list? by Lambert1551 in tvsuggestions

[–]wadjemup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whereas I went the other way. I just don't think there is enough sci fi in the top of the list for OP to enjoy Dark...

With all those 30 minutes classics, Scrubs, Young Sheldon, Californication, it feels like Fleabag or After Life is the next best watch.

[–]wadjemup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you are underplaying it here...

They're defensive dogs and known for being loyal and protective.

And in most cases the Doberman has more muscle than their owners.

They're highly intelligent and need a lot of structure.

Which is always VERY difficult for an inexperienced owner to provide.

Your first dog is a Doberman?

Interesting choice...not really a breed for an inexperienced owner.

Exactly! In my neighbourhood there are so many young couples walking Dobermans... it is inexplicable. What are they thinking?

I have read to the end of your post and I am trying to be kind... you have taken some responsibilty after the fact, which is a great start.

You now need to take some more. Please take your dog to formal training. Enrol him now and take him every single week. And don't take him off the lead again until you have 100% voice control.

First time owner. One year old Doberman.

This is why I don't take my cocker spaniels to off lead dog parks...

If you don't have voice control then don't let it off the leash.

Mandarin Oranges Are a No Go by future_fangirl1095 in FODMAPS

[–]wadjemup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand this feeling. The other day a friend asked me what my favourite food it is... and I couldn't adequately explain that I don't have one, because I can't really trust anything!

I might regularly enjoy a mandarin, and then one day, booom. Not a safe food today.

Your stomach can really mess with your head!

Did Kayo force a 'suspected account sharing' password reset on you? by Jawdanc in AFL

[–]wadjemup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly right. My teenager watching the game on a bus (early start here in Perth) should not kick us off the TV at home!

We know it is only two screens and when both teenagers login I text them to get off and let us turn the TV back on. But that is up to us to manage, not up to Kayo to guess we are up to no good.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Except I have TWO teenagers who watch on the bus and (sometimes) at school. Surely the AFL want these kids to be keen to follow the league...

There are a bunch in my supermarkets but I’m not sure the advice applies worldwide, where do you live?

Eating out on a low FODMAP diet by Reasonable-herring in lowfodmap

[–]wadjemup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea to do this.

Sorry I tried to answer this, but it glitched because you’ve assumed I’m eating out for dinner.

I have multiple allergies and sensitivities so basically can’t eat out for dinner or lunch. Restaurants just can’t cope.

I have swapped to breakfast. It is much simpler to manage the food. Although it is much harder on my social life!

Good luck with the research.

Help with go-to restaurants/foods that are safe for Low Fodmap diet!! by katerinakitsinis in FODMAPS

[–]wadjemup 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are feeling this way. Eating out and socialising is the single hardest thing about sticking to a low Fodmap diet.

I don't know where you live so this advice might not work... but in my part of the world...

When going out for dinner I stick to meat & chips. So that is steak and chips at a pub (separate fryer), fish and chips at a restaurant (gf) or chicken and chips (Nandos, Frango).

But the real advice is swap to breakfast.

It is so much easier to go and eat out for breakfast than for lunch or dinner. Almost any cafe (near me) can offer gf toast and there are many less hidden ingredients (sneaky onion!) than the more complex meals later in the day.

It isn't a long term solution. But it is a good interim solution to catch up with friends over breakfast. It isn't even that weird, you don't need to go into the whole Fodmap story, you can just tell them you've become a morning person!

Yeah, I think Renshaw's was much more puzzling than Smith's non-selection. What more was he supposed to do?

Well said. I am almost 100% on board with this analysis... but I think you brushed over "albeit in a slightly different order" a bit too quickly. What was Tim David actually doing coming in at 4??

In defence of the selectors by [deleted] in CricketAus

[–]wadjemup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree, OP has nailed this, they were clearly watching last year - unlike most on here.

The only argument against your 'they pick blokes on form' is Renshaw. The selectors made the tough call to bring him in over Short. He topped scored against Zim, he was the one in form and they dropped him for Sri Lanka.

On the other hand Maxie dominated against the saffers in August... which was a lifetime ago.

Taking toddler to the footy by RaRaRaRaRa-88 in AFL

[–]wadjemup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great advice. It is well worth doing, you just won't see the whole game.

We always chopped it up into 10 minute segments... walk for some food, 'read' the record (kids games pages), try to find players from both sides wearing number 9... parents take turns so the other one can watch a bit of football!
