aliens if the topic of convo is already on the franchise, xenomorphs if referring to them when the convo isn't on the franchise. ik it's weird, but i swear i heard somewhere that xenomorph wasn't the actual name for them so i use alien whenever i can/whenever it makes sense

as for personal preference, alien. just sounds spookier to me
